City v Liverpool - Post Match Thread

Really glad Ederson is ok, he just inspires confidence and takes so much pressure off the defence in terms of the dominance of his area and ability to play as a sweeper.

Stones had his best game in a City shirt, his reading of the game was brilliant and I loved the way he took responsibility without Kompany besides him. I thought Danilo had a fantastic game too, he's just a very good all round footballer and slotted in at centre back and central midfield like he had played their his whole career. De Bruyne is just De Bruyne, the man is a genius. Special praise for Aguero and Sane too, Aguero for the lay off to Jesus which was very unselfish and showed how much he wants the team to do well and Sane for not sulking and taking his chance to show everyone just how good he is again.

Oh and fuck off you candle burning, granny robbing, benefit fiddling, curly haired scouse ****s.

I have been very wary of Stones lack of responsibility for both City & Everton, but I think pre season & so far in the real stuff so far this season, whilst not being error free (who could be pefect ?) he has shown a lot of that responsibility, bottle & imo has surpassed Kompany so far, as the best defender.

Very pleased to be wrong about him (so far).

I feel like the sending off was harsh. If it happened to us there would be a lot of people on here complaining. Mane was definitely trying to make a play on the ball. Great display all round from us though.

You've totally missed the point, both his feet were off the ground and one slammed in to the side of Edersons face

No one disputes the fact he was going for the ball, but it's a very dangerous challenge that could have caused serious injury.

It's absolute bullshit from Neville and Tyler... we get one good decision for once on a big call and they make out it's the biggest injustice all season(as a warning to the few refs who aren't bent perhaps?). It winds me up, the ref got it right but they are slaughtering him for it: "Did you not get the memo? Wtf is this making big calls correctly in a City match?".

Where as refs making massive errors against us get off lightly and they quickly move on, saying: "it's hard for referees today you can't blame him it's just unfortunate".

What I think Neville wanted to happen was for our balls of steel keeper to notice the reckless way Mané went in to challenge for a ball Ederson was clearly favourite for(he won the ball this can't be disputed so it's not even 50/50) and pull out of it.

I loved the way he pushed Otamendi out of the way to go and take the ball off Salah just after he'd been booked, it would have been easier for him just to let Otamendi deal with it.

I've waited a lifetime for that result. When I was a kid through the 80s we'd get routinely hammered 4-0 5-2 5-0 3-0 4-0 etc etc then the 90s weren't much better, like when we lost 4-0 and 6-0 at Anfield in the space of 3 days. Always getting fucking hammered time n time again! I came out of that stadium today laughing n smiling more than I have for a long time. We owed them fuckers that one. CTIFD.

Liverpool were blown away and Klopp didn't know how to respond to City's movement once we clicked into gear. It made no difference whether they had 10 or 11 men on the pitch. Good teams don't fall apart when they have a man sent off - they adjust

About the sending off the best comparison that can be made is to a tackle inside the box. You go for the tackle and make it - Good tackle
You go for the and miss it - Penalty
HIGH RISK HIGH REWARD which is exactly what Manes was. How people are even arguing against it is ridiculous.

Tyler and Neville spent the first 45 minutes ripping our defence apart, especially Ottamendi.

After that both of them were besides themselves when Sane got sent off.

I honestly thought I was watching LFC-TV when I got back from the match and watched the match at home afterwards.

Here's a thought,

Think, please.

Imagine the reaction of Tyler and Neville if United had beaten Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Exactly.

Stones really looked the part today.
