I agree. I had the same conversation with the guy who sits next to me. First half most of the danger came down our left side from Salah, and Mendy didn't seem to provide any defensive cover at all, he was just stood wide on the touch line. This could quite easily have cost us. I'm not sure if this an intentional strategy from Pep, but if it is, then it seems a risky one. We didn't do anything to try and stop the threat and I was really relieved when Salah went off at half time.
They had targeted Otamendi they new if they could get Salah against him he'd be toast which proved right numerous times due to his lack of speed, which is what we really need at the back. I've nothing but praise for Mendy going forward but he was often cauught out up front, if Kompany had been there it wouldn't have been as much of an issue.

The result was also influenced to an extent by the Champions League games.

Liverpool surrendered when they took Salah off. I am sure they would not have done that had they not had the European game in midweek. City took Jesus off early. Again for the same reason>>the midweek game. We however had quality in Sane to bring on.

Well that was a fun day. Sore head today but a fantastic day, just watching the red on Telly and I cannot see how there can be any complaints. Lovely strike by Sane for the last. Fingers crossed Ederson is good for next week.

It was a lovely strike with Tyler barely able to hide his joy and excitement at it lol

Bit harsh. Shat himself & skied one early doors but settled down well imo.

And imo the fault of Stones being off the pace is him being dropped by Pep, followed by South**** (which is fair enough, because Phil Jones is England's best defender).
Bit catch 22 with regards not being picked and not being up to the pace. But he'll probably get a run in the team now.

Haven't seen anyone really talking about this but thought it was worth a mention. Mangala - I thought he did well when he came in. Looked a little more comfortable than on previous occasions and played a few nice simple passes plus one key pass leading to a goal. Always liked him and would love for him to do well here and prove people wrong. Can't see it happening mind, but would love it.

I remember sitting in the main stand at Maine Rd at Easter 1982 when Liverpool beat us 5-0,that was payback today.
I was at the Kippax for that one with a University mate who was a Liverpool fan, we'd been to Anfield on boxing day that season and beaten them 3-1 which I was at as well though with a different mate.

Great pass to set up the fourth
