City v Liverpool - Post Match Thread

Fantastic. Biggest bunch of twats in the game after the obvious winners. Never heard any set of fans boo an injured player, ever. To a man they are ****s. Self entitled, glory hunting.always offended never shamed twats. 5 fuckin 0. I will sleep well.
Never? Do you watch a lot of football? Players on stretchers get boo'd quite regularly. Nature of the fan mentality. We've done it in the past.

Struggling to remember when we have done it with a player who was looking so seriously injured - please remind me?

Living in Liverpool, it's needless to say I've got a relatively sore head this morning.

I thought Mendy was superb going forward. Compare that performance to any one of Clichy's last season and you can see why we spent the big bucks.

I'm so happy with Stones too. He showed some real defensive intelligence at times. That said, we could do with a solid partner or two to play alongside him. Future investments.

We're building some squad. Pep needs to stick around and see the job out, this project is more than three years. Delighted.

After the nerves settled in the first 15 mins it was a brilliant professional performance by city. It looked fairly even for most of that first half but city made the better runs and chances and were going momentum going into half time. Something that surprised me today was our grit and determination not to get bullied off the ball....at one point in the first half there were loads of Liverpool elbows going in and we just took it and gave it back....I thought the Liverpool players seemed a bit surprised at this.

I have a slightly different perspective on the red card; earlier in the game Ederson came out of his area and headed away a through ball...I believe Mane was closing at speed and had every intention of taking the player if he missed the ball...because I think he wanted to make a point, perhaps stop Ederson from going for these type of balls again...the other thing was that Mane was properly wound up...you could see it in his refusal to go off...that suggests to me that he was upset/annoyed when he went in for the challenge.

The Liverpool fans booing Ederson was a disgrace; but I don't believe the city fans singing 'it's never your fault' was about the football tradgedies they have suffered. It was more a general fact about how it's literally never their fault (imo). But of course the victimpool mentality will prevail and they will get to interpret it in the worst possible light...my 2p

We cruised the second half in second gear....the battling Liverpool were nowhere to be seen and we gave them a proper thrashing. Of corse they will claim the red was decisive but I don't buy it, they totally folded under city pressure....and we had even taken our foot off the gas by this point!!

I was pleased for Jesus; he got fouled to fuck so it was great that he scored a brace. Fuck me though, what a talent Sane is...two absolute beauties.
Another highlight was Mendy...the lad can deliver a beautiful ball into the box and he's only going to get better...

Onwards and upwards blues

The Pool fans belief in their team took a real pounding yesterday. They let their fans down then the fans let down the team by simply abandoning them and leaving the ground very early.

Two myths exploded yesterday by their collective actions first that ´´they never walk alone´´ which perhaps should be ´´walk out alone´´ and second the never say die spirit of the Pool team.

The alternative view is that City simply demolished their best efforts with the drubbing and the fans left to prevent the innocents among their fans from seeing a fantastic display from City demolishing a hard working ever trying Pool who were massively exposed on the day.

It was immensely satisfying to give those lot a drubbing. They are up there with the rags as being the most detestable fans in my opinion. I thought defensively they were as poor as any team I can remember seeing at ours for a long time, however some of our attacking play was a joy to watch. I don't think we have really even clicked fully yet, as a team, this season and we have still only dropped 2 points. I think when it does all click we will be scary.

The BBC is saying that it's our biggest win against the candle-wavers for 80 years.

But that was 5-1, so I would say it's our biggest win for more than 80 years. Maybe ever.

Just checked in @Gary James' complete record and we beat them 6-0 in 1935-36 with goals from Toseland (2), Heale (2), Busby and Herd.

I forgot to add that the last time we put five - yes FIVE - past Liverpool, we went on to win the league.
