City v Liverpool (spending)

I think what some neglect is that we weren't just replenishing a team that was created on millions (like Liverpool) but creating an entirely new team from what was available.

We should be commended for breaking the monopoly.

According to http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk

Since 08/09 rounded

City £413m

LFC £99m

So the dipper was right?

No, he was full of shit - that's more than 4 times the amount and he said 3.

All joking aside, since fans of other clubs conveniently cut-off how far back we go to see who spent the most money (adjusting for inflation), surely we can now start doing the same and only consider what we've spent in the past one or two years. By that measure I'd guess we've not massively outspent any of the other top teams.

Great point. And as some opposition fans love to go on about net spend so much, perhaps they'd like to know that our net spend over the last 3 transfer windows has been around £12 million - averaging out at a whopping £4 million per window.

City won the football lottery, what does he want us to do buy monkeys and pay them peanuts. City have broke no rules and done nothing wrong.

Exactly. They'd be loving it if it was their club. What did they expect City fans to do when ADUG took over? Renounce our support for the club because we'd sooner see the likes of Corradi and Samaras turning out for us, and Pearce steering us to a run of 10 consecutive home league games without scoring a single goal? Fucking weirdos!

Could anyone assist me with a breakdown of ours and Liverpool's spending (and sales) since the Sheikh took over please?

Dipper at work today 'You've spent 3 times what we have so its no wonder you're going to Wembley again'.

Please help me to shatter his tiny little mind into a million pieces.

Yeah, I'd ask him whether he counts those trillionaires, Wigan and Millwall, in the same spending bracket in the chance of going to Wembley, also...

It tends to wind up Liverpool fans when i mention that for an extra £3million they spent on Carroll they could of bought (or tried) Aguero.

They spend stupid amount on shit players eg Downing, Henderson, Caroll, borini.

Perhaps they can celebrate their spending while we're at Wembley making another cup final.

FWIW they've spent more nett than us over the past two years.

Mcfc - £3579853126800 trillion

Everyone else - £0 (youth academy players)

Well according to everyone else it this!
To be honest that's the kind of thing i'd say to the Liverpool fan. 'Yes mate, we've spent billions and we've won the FA Cup, the league and now we're going to Wembley again, in fact it's like a second home to us now. Now fuck off home and settle down to a betamax video of when you were great'..........

^pmsl!

I'd just ask him what the response of the Liverpool fans was to the news the Chinese sovereign wealth fund were supposedly about to take them over?

Google is your friend.

Left their self-righteous bullshit at the door that week.

Funny how the amount we spend only seems to count since the Sheikh took over. It's as if money spent before then doesnt count.

Heres some FACTS -
liverpool spent £40m in 2004 - we spent nothing
they spent £35m in 05 - we spent £9m (including £6m on Samaras!)
in 06 they spent £26m - we spent £2m

Thats £101m in 3 seasons against £11m.

Funny how that level of spending allowed them to win the FA Cup & CL
but it's only us who buy success YCNMIU

^ This!

Liverpool:

Carroll - £35m (Liverpool's most expensive ever signing, and the highest amount ever paid by one club to another for a British footballer.)
Henderson - £20m
Downing - £20m

City:

Aguero - £38m
Silva - £24m
Yaya Toure - £24m

They have spent very similar to us in some transfer deals. The difference is we have bought genuine world class players, where as they have just spent over the top amounts on over-hyped English players.
