City v PL | Legal Dispute/Appeal

If it were around third party ownership it would almost certainly fall into the remit of FIFA.

Really think you can hang your hat on it being related to the PL version of FFP and in particular the two payments of £15 million made by Etisalat over the years 2012& 2013.

CAS was not able to look into the allegations as it was passed the 5 year time barred ruling . The point is that 5 year time barring is not applicable in the FA version
If you read @tolmie's hairdoo 's post earlier it would suggest the PL are attempting to look at everything in our accounts relating to FFP, third party etc even on issues on which CAS have ruled.
If it was just time barred items that could only be any of the Etisalat sponsorship relating to the 2013/2014 season when PL/FFP was first introduced.
Without going into that issue (@Prestwich_Blue has already covered it) I don't think it was such a big amount ( unlike Etihad sponsorship) and was seven years ago!
I don't think a single item like this would be dragging on for more than two years?

Tony Evans in the Independant posted an article on their website last night right at the final whistle, almost to the second, which is not very pro-City on this issue, or a fair reflection of events.

In it he claims, and I quote:

"Uefa allowed the English club to present last-minute witnesses, which was against the Nyon-based organisation's own rules, and let City take the initiative in compiling the three-man panel of judges."

"Subsequent revelations in Der Spiegel from the Football Leaks cache of hacked emails put into quetsion the veracity of evidence given by senior City officials to CAS."

"The civil action casts a cloud over a glorious period in City's history."

Whislt I will give him credit for stating the emails were hacked, and for confirming we were reluctant members of the Super League and pointing out Liverpool and United's fear and jelousy of us, I think suggesting that we were cozy with UEFA and so got off the hook rather than we didn't actually break any rules, suggesting we lied to CAS and then posting the piece the moment we advanced to a Champions League final suggest this lad is either hurting, or being actively encouraged to write such timely articles in return for a shiny dollar or two.

OK - PL are trying to do a lot of 'deep diving' into our accounts but according to that report you read what is the issue they are looking into - third party ownership, FFP?
Given it's a 'deep dive', I'd guess it's a scattergun approach where they want access to everything in the hope that they find something to charge us with.

Whats the point in BDO if their “independent assurance” or whatever they gave over all of our reported finances and our ffp submissions can be ignored by non financial bodies who attemp to audit themselves.

It all stinks. There is no independence in uefa as long as its run by execs of other clubs. There is no independence in the premier league as long as its run by execs of other clubs.

Media can say what they want but by all accounts our entire email system was hacked and leaked and even then they didn’t find anything sufficient to penalise us. By legal terms we are squeaky clean.

Lets enjoy the end of potentially our greatest ever season

Had to laugh at the utter desperation of it all.

From the legal inaccuracies, to the desperation of saying Der Spiegel being ignored at another smear email to discredit the evidence given by City at CAS.

From the same batch of smear emails that were shown to be edited and taken out of context.

The guy is a grade A wanker who couldn't even hold his job at the MEN.
Panja is another one who apparently can't bring himself to identify or use the name of our owner Sheikh Mansour. He just uses the phrase Abu Dhabi (as does Rob Harris in his piece last night for AP). Apart from being inaccurate this dehumanises our owner suggesting he can't be an individual in his own right.
It is basically a racist narrative with the subtext being "they are the all the same you know." You simply don't see this sort of language applied to other foreign owners of football clubs.
I really don't know what Panja's motives are. He is not daft and must know full well that our club is not "owned by a foreign state." Our accounts have been independently audited for the last 13 years and lawyers from UEFA and our sponsors and investors have all done due diligence on our business model. Even UEFA itself has never said City were "state-owned."

Become a little clearer now thanks to Mike Keegan in today's Mail, clearly been given the inside track.

Don't think we have much to worry about at all.

City are objecting to over disclosure. City feel it is a witch hunt that Premier League investigators are demanding access to a wide range of information which we feel is unnecessary and unjust.

City believe a realistic framework should be agreed, within which we are more than happy to cooperate.

Privately, the Premier League's approach has been described by some at City as an 'attempted witch hunt'.

The Premier League don't want it coming out how much of a deep dive they have tried to instigate, which is hardly a surprise.

Essentially, Blues, the Premier League are trying it on and want to see how the club operates, even down to what toilet cleaner we use.
I dare them , I double dare them to try and take us on, Premier league champions, possible Champions of Europe.

They would be idiots to do so, we should be an example of how to run a football club, how to invest in the local area, what can be achieved with sensible investment.

The Premier league need to be careful, they are under attack from all the major European leagues, the major European clubs are getting hammered, they simply can't compete with the Premier league clubs.

Now is the time to stick together, work together, not to stab one of your own in the back.

That seems to make sense but why would the PL want to go on fishing expedition against City for alleged problems which may have happened before the PL itself had even introduced FFP and which, even if true, pre-date our own settlement with UEFA in 2014?
It is sheer madness to do this when football needs external investment more than ever and the existing FFP rules have failed miserably to prevent huge debt problems.
We know Richard Masters was put in place after being vetted by LFC and MUFC but surely all bets are off now we know LFC and MUFC have been plotting for five years to destroy the Premier League. Masters can't be so stupid to pick a fight with City when he needs our support more than ever, especially one he can't possibly win.

Never underestimate stupidity.

You're presuming it's to do with PL FFP rules, it may well not be. In fact there's been plenty of discussion on here that it isn't.
