City v Southampton Post Match Thread

Best away performance of the season, possibly best overall as well, against a side who haven't lost at home, and only conceded, what? 2 before this game?
Clean sheet, 2 goals score when down to ten men, Clichy finally getting on the score sheet too!
Great week for us, beating Bayern, and now a great away victory at Southampton , that calls for a celebration!

Looked far more dangerous when Jovetic came off for Milner. More to do with the change to formation rather than those 2 players themselves. Fernandinho was man of the match for me today, really starting to see his form from early last season again, gets about the pitch tirelessly, covers for Yaya's laziness and actually offers something himself going forward. He's so much better than Fernando in there and should be starting when available. Could and should of been more today if the ref wasn't so inept and Kun had buried that 1v1. Impressive.

Absolutely have to go 4-5-1 against Sunderland now, we've built up a bit of momentum and we can't destroy it all by not beating Sunderland. We'll also need extra protection if Kompany and Mangala are missing for that game. I suspect Sagna will come in alongside Demichelis.

I really do not understand the people saying Yaya should play at CB as a punishment! So they're saying they would punish one player to make the team weaker. Yaya at CB would be silly, would rather Boyata there! But Sagna or Nastasic are other options. Nonetheless, what a win today and no goals conceded even with 9 men! I'm confident for Wednesday, even if our first choice CBs are missing. Demichelis is still a good CB and he will lead the back line well if Vinny is out. Come on CIty!!!!!!!!!!

Stat ....

This ref has sent off 4 City players in 9 games he has reffed one of our games .......What Agenda ?[/quote

If you are going to book a player for diving and make him spend the rest of the game on a knife edge then you have to be certain that it was a dive. You have to see daylight between attacker and defender. Even if the fall is clumsy a ref cannot be certain that a player has dived. You won't award the kick but booking a player? Mmmm. 'Tis high time video evidence was used for yellow cards, red cards, penalties and goals. Referees have shown, and increasingly show to an alarming degree, that they get too much wrong! It's hard enough to win back-to-back titles without whistling incompetents adding to the burden. Jones has shown on too many occasions, often with bewildering decisions for both sides, that he is not up to the required standard. I think the matches at Hough End are beyond him.
