City v Southampton Post Match Thread

Great result for us, Nasri had a good game for us, I thought Toure, Lampard and Clichy all took their goals well, until the Mangala sending off I thought the defence was doing alright for us, hope Kompany is ok, anyhow well done guys on a great win.....................

Fantastic performance. I thought we were fantastic last week too, just didn't get the scoreline to match the performance. That's 3 great games in a row, so hopefully we can safely say our blip is over. And we've still got Silva, Dzeko and Kolarov to come back.

That was one of the most inept refereeing performances I've ever seen though. That free kick that he brought back to the halfway line? The Aguero "dive?" Absolutely awful.

Said we'd romp it today. Thought we were magnificent, best performance of the season by a country mile.

Felt sorry for Mangala, he didn't have much choice. Losing Vince is a bit of a blow though.

Crikey, for you to use a word like magnificent it must've been quite a performance. :)

I feel existential angst just reading his post.

Pardon my French but that is why we're fucking champions.

Southampton are a good side, but they can't quite run with the big teams yet.

Hope Kompany is alright.

Love that Lampard and Clichy got on the scoresheet.

Sounderland widweek. Everton next weekend. Then the most important match of the season in my opinion against Roma.
Let's hope the price of the win isn't too costly.

MANAGER REACTION

Southampton 0-3 Man City

Posted at 15:53

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, speaking to Sky Sports: "I am very pleased. We beat a very good team. They were second in the table and deserved that position. We played a very good game it was important to have a clean sheet again, they had just one chance in the 90 minutes and that is important for the trust in our team, and to score three goals against the best defence is also very important.

"I told the referee he must decide if it is a penalty or not, I was sure it was not yellow card. I know [Sergio Aguero], he does not try to cheat the referee. But after it was important to open the game, it was close in the first 45 minutes and we continued working as a team in defence and attack until we scored.

"[After Eliaquim Mangala being sent off and Vincent Kompany coming off injured] we don't have both but we have Martin Demichelis and Dedryck Boyata, who is working very well, and Bacary Sagna can also play centre-back.

"We cannot know if Vincent Kompany has a problem with his hamstring, we will see with the doctor tomorrow. It was a precaution, we will see if it is a cramp or injury

Mangala's first yellow was actually his 5th yellow of the season anyway, so he would've missed the next match anyway.

Superb performance. Shame Aguero didn't get on the scoresheet. Yaya, fernandinho were excellent.
They can't call us ''a one man team'' now

We look much better in the middle, Yaya is playing better and Dinho finding his form.

Oh, and of course, having Sergio in such form helps a little. ;-)
