City V Stoke City Post Match Discussion Thread

Work man like performance against a average Stoke team with no desire to test us.

I would have liked us to step up a gear and put half a dozen past them.
The rags won 5-0 away at Fulham. We don't want out Goal Difference to slip.

Top at Xmas is fantastic and unbeaten in a calendar year at home is wonderful.
We only dropped two points.

Quite a few were talking about pushing on last night and putting a couple more past them, however, its games like last night where our players get a rest in a challenging period. Keeping the ball saves the legs for tougher struggles over the next few games.

The rags pushed it last night, chased the goals and ended up with two more injuries.

I personally think that Stoke threw the game, rested players for their next two games coming up where realistically they can pick up points. Its happened to the rags over the years, remember Wolves a couple of years ago, and more teams will do it over the next few years.

They parked the double decker they played 6-3-1 they have been on a great run and didn't want a 5 or 6 goal thrashing they never even had a go! was we that good or Stoke came and played to not get embarrassed and lose there confidence for future games

I think the "fact" that they pushed it (maybe) and got injuries is garbage. Jones was injured before they scored the first goal. The 2 are not related.

hmmm clearly I messed up that post as that isnt something I said. Must concentrate more.

Stoke gave up trying to win before the kick off a 9-1-0 formation was never going to cut it. Treat it as a compliment. That sort of thing until recently only happened at the Swamp and Stamford Bridge and shows how far we've come.

Watching the Stokies go off at HT they looked knackered. The closing down for 45 mins really took it out of them.

For our part it was a very good game, not too much effort (always easier with the ball) before a busy xmas/new year period.)

Good performance last night from every City player, worked hard to probe against a sometimes 9 man defence. When the 1st went in you knew the gates had opened. Aguero looking sharper than ever, all round movement and finishing was top notch. Johnson produced the goods again. Clearly doesn't like the criticism!

All said it was a nice win against what could have been a tougher game considering they did have some good players on the pitch.

Do u remember playing bolton off the park, hitting the woodwork 6 times, then losing 1-0 to a late goal? i do! lol

was it a dunne og?

i have vivid memories of my grandad shouting "you jammy bastards" at the bolton players about 50 times lol.

Dunne gave away a last minute pen
And wasn't it Gary Speed that scored it? Or have i imagined that?
