I`m not happy with our two left sided defenders.Clichy is by far and away the better of the full backs as a defender,but Kolarov is better at whipping a ball in if he gets forward.I`ll reserve judgement on Demi.
So glad Sergio is playing,but I just hope he completes the match without any further problems.

That's my worry... Adam Johnson running at a slow Kolorov and an even slower Demi... You'd have gone with Clichy purely as he's got pace. Hopefully we'll get an early goal so we can bring them out (as I imagine there going to sit back)

Lescott has missed just one game in this competition, whereas MD has played just one.

If he plays Pants based on his contribution then hes just kicked Lescott in the teeth is my point.

Not that MD will fuck up, hopefully he wont.

Difference is Demichelis is Pellegrini's man he has had him in his last few teams he has managed its easier to tell Lescot your not starting..

Agreed; Joleon is no world beater but he is better than DeMichelis.

demichelis is in the team for his ability to carry the ball out of defence and pick a pass as we are unlikely to be doing much defending we need to build from the back lescott just isnt capable of doing this

Lescott is a better defender, and that is the position on the pitch where MDM is playing. Lescott isn't as prone to rashly diving in as MDM is, and he is quicker than MDM.Granted, not that difficult. Still; hopefully Martin proves me wrong.

Doesn't matter - Manuel is the manager, he picks the team, we have played the best football in years. Lescott will not be here next year and we move forward. In some ways Joleon and Micha are the past. I for one agree with picking Pants for this - he deserves the day out and I am sure Joe will be having many days out in the future under our classy manager. Now come on lets put on a show!

Nowt wrong with that XI. I wouldn't have minded either Lescott or Demi. What matters is how players perform in this match, and I hope they all have a good game.

Adam johnson is the slowest winger in the world

He's not that slow, plus if Kolorov goes forward (which he will) Johnson running at Demi is still going to be worse with Kolorov running back than Clichy. Don't get me wrong I like Kolorov, he's better going forward than Clichy. Just think with Demi playing id have opted for Clichy. Hope I'm proven wrong and Kolorov smacks it from 30 yards!
