People need to stop being so cocky, imo. Vidic didn't play in the 6-1 and he is absolutely immense to be fair to him. Look how many clean sheets they've kept since he's come back. We also don't know what team we will put out. We can't play our best team every game. The fringe players will either play v Liverpool in the semi-final or v the rags in this 3rd round game.

I'm looking forward to it, but i don't like all these "we're gonna smash them again" comments.
You'd be depressed at an orgy you.
I'm depressing because i don't think we are going to win 47-0? I never said we are going to lose, just that i don't think the game will pan out as everyone on here seems to be expecting.
It's the forum though. Let them have their fun. Ofcourse it will be a very tough game and a lot closer than the last derby, but we are a better side them then and we have no reason to fear them.

Apologies in advance for what will be a lengthy post. I like to listen, read and learn. I recommend all fellow Blues read 'The Art of War.' if they haven't already done so.

I don't speak often unless there is something I truly believe in or wish to say: In the grand scheme of things this is merely another game and with our current standing and the progress we will continue to make in the foreseeable future the result is not of massive significance; Especially if Napoli blow it and We stay in the CL. I am convinced we will beat Bayern on Wednesday.

As it stands at this minute: We shouldn't really pay much attention to our inferior neighbours. We have bigger fish to fry. We are in more competitions than they are.. The quadruple is still on and so what? If it becomes a treble, or a double, or 'God Forbid' even just one trophy. I was delighted at Wembley last May and I am geared up to be ecstatic when we win our next piece of silverware in the very near future.

We know we can't win every single game but we are already a team that is winning the vast majority. With our present formidable platform and backing We will go onto secure future glories and said glories are here and happening now.. I am loving this journey, this rise upwards. We are currently and appropriately at the Zenith in the Premier League and long may it continue. Slowly, every last despicable one of them, all of the bottomfeeding gutterpress, even the most twisted and bitter cynics and haters are accepting our Number One status and admiring the beauty of our play..

And when the matchday arrives, Man U will be pappering their snappers as they anticipate this game at the Etihad.. Ferdinand included; if indeed, he is even selected to feature (regardless of his puerile tweets).. Many of their players will not even genuinely want to take part. Their arrogance has gone, the 1-6 has handsomely deflated their overhyped egos desperately massaged in the press by their OAP of a manager. This FA Cup tie will be one to watch; One of of them may go out spitting and screaming, schriking at the incorrectly perceived injustice of a red card. But he knows the truth,in recent highlights I have seen, he silently fumes at his defaulting, fading, debt-ridden, football club:Sneering towards the management that lined his pockets and betrayed him with promises unkept. It is obvious even to him: 'City are the best team in Manchester. The Present and the Future is Blue.' But individuals like him are of little, tiny concern.

What will matter in this match; is the fact that we are undoubtedly the better team, and we clearly play a higher level of football and this is an opportunity to cement the current positive situation further. They will come to defend, cheat and kick; if they can get away with it.. The most deluded members of their rapidly diminishing fanbase are already collectively clinging onto the receding hope of a snidey unlikely away victory; that of course is not impossible, although it is certainly improbable.

The truth is, that all Blues can now Believe: and I implore us all to do so if we can.. WE have to really Believe, and whether we win 2-1 or 6-0, bask in the sky blue bliss and warmth of this righteous time: As this is not a time to doubt; This is the beginning of our ascent to greatness.. CTWD

There's nothing to suggest that we'll have a dogfight. They can't handle the way our team plays, or any other team with possession. They are, in a word, the best oldschool football club in the world. And they are one of the few left who play with natural wingers. But times are changing. They were dismantled against Barcelona some 600-300 passes.

The idea that theyre going to change this formula is ludicrous as they don't have the personnel nor management that understand how to slowly dismantle the opposition.

3-2 at the Charity Shield was a mixture of new teammates and naivete. I'm not arrogant in any sense, its just looking at Rag weaknesses versus City strengths. The more they play with width players we dismantle their centrehalves.

Excited and nervous at the same time about this. I think we need to look at the aspirations of the oppostion in these games.

Rags will play their storngest posisble team Dalglish needs a trophy to maintain the new feel good factor at Liverpool so I am convinced he will play his strongest possible team in the league cup ties. The question is can we afford to play our second string side and I don't think we can because they are not good enough to beat the rags and dippers. Our second string only just got past the Arsenal second string side and could easily have lost 1-0 instead of winning 1-0.

I think Roberto will have to play very strong teams for all these matches. The players are paid huge sums so they need to earn every penny now. Also, the fans need to create the right atmosphere and get right behind the team (the Norwich atmosphere was crap in my view).

I think we need to buy to shore up the squad certainly on a short term basis which might help matters and also avoid getting any injuries which of course is difficult with so many games.

The SF was the turning point, the 6-1 merely endorsed the power shift.

The best thing about this draw is imagining how gutted Fergie and their players and all their fans felt when their name came out after ours.

They'd have been thinking please not us please not us in the split seconds before their ball was drawn.

Every home game as we tear the opposition to pieces I've been wishing that we didn't have to wait til April to humiliate them with 45000 fans bawling abuse at Fergie and the team and now my wish has been granted.

Can't fuckin wait !!!

Disagree re buying, in fact I hope we don't buy at all in January (Unless God forbid we get a serious season long injury)

I think any new face coming in will disrupt things the way that Rodney did in the 70's.

We have the best squad and Bobby will know exactly how to play each of these games, my feeling is play the strongest possible team against the rags, rest a few for the semi first leg then a strong team for the 2nd leg, unless we are 4-0 up of course. :)

I don't think it's a direct parallel to the Rodney Marsh days, the days are gone when we spent a bucket load of cash on a player and then felt we had to play him all the time because we HAD spent so much money.

Virtually any player coming in to our team now needs to appreciate he will be a squad player and a rotation policy will be enforced. Obviously there is a semi-defined first XI but in general rotation is keeping players fit and, I assume, reasonably happy. There's a select group of players who would command an automatic starting spot in our team and most of those we would find difficult to buy anyway.

Eliminate the negative accentuate the positive... and importantly consider the facts..

In the last five games they have ponced a measly five goals; We have scored 18. Nobody has beaten us at home for twelve months. We have home advantage against them and we just annihilated them at their own place. We also dumped them out of this competition last season. They are prone to having players sent of against us in games that matter because, they are the weaker and more desperate team..We are also current holders of this trophy and league leaders.. We are also breaking all manner of records (including goals scored). we have a better, bigger and stronger first eleven and a far superior squad. We are rightly the favourites to win this cup tie. The bookies don't lie. Our Management and players are relishing this battle, as I believe are many of us fans. Their management, players and supporters are dreading meeting us again. It has only been a relatively short time since takeover and we are already experiencing the onset of dominance over our nearest rivals.

I cheered watching the draw arrive. This is what it is all about; Winning big games against clubs with past glories, as we continue to create our own successes. Liverpool, Utd and Liverpool again, all at home: Relish the occasion. May this blue tide wash over everything that stands in our way. I said it when Mansour took over and I'll say it again; "Prolonged success and numerous trophies for Manchester City Football Club during the next two decades is inevitable." We have already witnessed the early stages and victories associated with Empire building...CTWD..Sorry for preaching to those that do already and for any doubters left, a single word: Believe.

Excellent post

I could almost imagine you perched outside the stadium delivering that! ;-)

On a podium like that scene from life of brian...only he's not making it up as he goes along. :)
