It's nothing to do with cuts it's where their priorities lie. Far easier to go for an easy target to get crime stats up. How long has Piccadilly been played by Drug Dealers. There's been fights and stabbing there in the Centre of Manchester.

Under the last Labour government crime was falling. Cameron and his Tory austerity gang used this fact to make police officers redundant. Fact. Johnson pledged to get police numbers back to where they were when Labour were ousted in 2010. There not back to that number yet.
Having said that I think this is a load of bollocks and the police have more pressing and difficult crimes to deal with. This is mainly excited fans showing emotion. City have always as long as I can remember ran onto the pitch last day of season even when their were police all over the shop and nothing riding on the result.
