City v Villa - post match

Mike Dean had a mare.

For 40 minutes I thought he had it in for us. The decision to penalise Kolo when Benteke was trying to wrestle him to the ground, was just hilarious.

But the he let us get away with a marginal foul by Dzeko leading to our goal. And no penalty when Nastastic fouled in the box towards the end.

Both those decisions were marginal, but he could have fucked us over if he had wanted to.

So I can only conclude he is crap, not bent.
Thought he was poor but in our favour, deffo pen imo a high foot in the area and a trip very lucky to get away with it.

Apart from a 20 minute spell at the end of the first half and the start of the second we were very poor but we did create quite a few clear cut chances unlike a lot of games this season which is promsing.

Horrid first half hour. Terrible absence of dynamism, with City's lack of pace very evident. Passing not crisp enough. Players caught in possession too often. Then, almost suddenly, we started to play.

Villa will argue that Dzeko fouled Clark but he lost his footing all of his own accord. What the first goal did demonstrate (hobby horse time) is the value of pressing the ball.

Second half was a mixed bag and City continued to make much harder work of a game than they should have by missing chances and again got caught in possession too much and were exposed by a lack of pace in the ball winnig stakes.

Thankfully, we know how to keep a clean sheet. Rolo and Nasty were strong defensively; full backs perhaps a bit off it.

Got the goal that mattered and I guess that is all she wrote on this one.

No where near our best and we got a bit lucky with the decisions that mattered but we had the better of the chances and on reflection we should have won by more than one goal.

Deserved the win but that was just about it.

Pleased with the effort even if there wasn't much quality play, everyone was up for the battle. Thought the ref gave some strange decisions. Kolo motm, he's done a great job filling in for the captain.

Good Lord, the 442 has to go. You could've driven a bus through our midfield in the second half. On one hand you can say that the two strikers linked well for the goal, but they didn't pass to each other at any other point in the game, and it's not worth it when we sacrifice so much control in midfield.

It got a little better when Nasri came on - Yaya was forced to sit back, as Silva was occupying the space in front of him. Then Villa rallied a bit.

Unfortunate, because I had wanted to see more of the 433, with Rodwell, Garcia and Milner in midfield. After the injury, If Barry wasn't deemed ready, I'd have had Nasri on instead of Dzeko, went 4231 and dropped Milner in beside Garcia.

On the positive side, I don't think VK can expect to walk back into this team.

Not the best, hit the post twice pretty comfortable. Villa offered little, loads of endeavour

Worst part of the night whinging bastards on bluemoon

You think we like watching City play as badly as that ? You call it as it is - shite. Would have been 1-1 but for Dean not giving the penalty.

Well done City.

Well done all the travelling fans, all in fine voice yet again.

Couldn't give a flying fuck if the performance wasn't brilliant, its another game chalked off and another 3 points in the bag and a lead for 2nd place and 3 points clawed back on Utd.

Say what you want, but at least fight is being shown by the team to battle for a win.

Roll on the FA cup this weekend.

Kolo was excellent its funny how well the mind and player concentrates when there contracts running out...

Value or not I think Dzeko made a foul, slight one but still foul, on the goal and we couldn't complain if it was penalty on the end.

2 big decisions went our way, we would certainly moan if we would be on other end.

Bed time for you, Fee aman-Allah.

Akhee, you won't get lot of habibis here methinks :)

Maalish, was mixed up between names, I fought it was tcip ,mcr or something like that who had a go at me and needlessly accused me of being rag in the match day thread. MAalish again
