I disagree.......How are fans going to chant WE ARE THE 93.20 stand?
or WE ARE THE BERT TRAUTMANN STAND
WE ARE THE SOUTH STAND has a bit of PUNCH......
and "SOUTH STAND SOUTH STAND give us a song".........imagine that with some of these daft names offered
as does WE ARE THE KIPPAX has some clout to it.
I also disagree that match going fans in the east stand don't still love the KIPPAX name and heritage.
Maybe us older ones anyway..................
I really think some people just don't go to games or sing at all......or understand what is actually being said at games in the areas that do some singing now
I am not sure what you are disagreeing with? We are trying to have debate about what the South Stand should be called - should it be kept as The South Stand or re-name it? I think we are all agreed that we do not want it naming each week after the name of a fan or a Cityzen. I assume you want it to be kept as the South Stand and have submitted your preference to the club?
Others have suggested the 93:20 Stand or Aguero Stand. Clearly, even if this was to receive widespread support, it would have to be for the end where Sergio scored - the current North Stand / Family Stand, so this is a non-starter for the current South Stand.
We all love THE KIPPAX name and heritage. Why would you think this is not the case? The East Stand is generally no longer considered by many to be The Kippax. There may be some who sing it , but not very often, and occasionally there is a wider response to the South Stand of, " We Are The Kippax", but it is hardly a rocking, regular occurrence. The majority of fans say that they sit in the East Stand, not The Kippax. It does not feel like The Kippax and certainly does not have the atmosphere of The Kippax. Small blocks of fans in the corner of the lower section do not constitute The Kippax.
I have been attending for over 50 years so I assume this might meet your definition of "older ones".
I thought that this thread was about the naming, or not, of a stand. It is not about singing about the name of a stand. Singing should, in the main, be directed at players and the team. This misplaced view about so called banter with away fans or even between City fans just reduces the impact of the noise directed towards urging the players on. No other stand in Europe has way fans present to, as some suggest, help create the atmosphere. The Kop does not have to sing, "We are The Kop". It is self evident.
The topic is what should the South Stand should be called. There have been a few suggestions so far. Personally I think there are lots of South Stands up and down the country and that at CITY we need a name which is original and which does not recognise just one player as so many players are deserving in different ways.
