That had to of been the most boring 5-1 win you'll ever see. But job well done. Kind of feel sorry for Bournemouth, they've lost their best players for the entire season, they play some half decent football, with the injured players and a couple of signings in defence and something upfront they could be a decent premier league side A Swansea-lite. However, i think they'll go down. Just too toothless in attack.
As for us, Sterling and KDB stepped up today. Good to finally have some new signings that can make the difference. Despite the horrendous miss from Navas yet again, i actually thought he had a decent game today, he's starting to gain a bit of confidence and run at(kind of) defenders. it's a welcome improvement but he still needs to do it more. He could be so much better than he is.
Spent most of the second half watching Otamendi close up from the south stand. I'm still not convinced he's a top defender. His positioning is often all over the place and he almost always follows the ball instead of playing as a unit and staying in position. Then there's his biggest flaw, his constant and unnecessary diving in. It might of been fine in La Liga and it looks impressive when it comes off but if he doesn't adapt and change it's going to cost us. His distribution needs to improve too, he's clearly capable of playing out from the back but it's too often too casual, relatively simple passes are going wayward and putting us in trouble in dangerous positions. On the other side, Mangala was very assured, covered Ottamendi's strolls out of position very well with the help of Sagna and made a few excellent tackles. Has to be Kompany and Mangala to start the Derby if fit.
