City vs. Chelsea Post-Match Discussion Thread

The best thing about last night for me was - we finally WON a game in the last 15 minutes!

What a time to put that stat well and truly to bed!

More of the same in the last 9 matches please (although obviously no problem if we win them all before the dreaded last 15 minutes!)

desire was there last night, some games recently there has been an expectancy that we will just win.
last night we earned the right.

First time in Prem League that a City team has been losing at 75 minutes and come back to win.

A damning stat.

Well done Nasri. I've ripped him to pieces this season, but fuck me, from minute one, he was a class apart.

The player I thought we were buying.

Welcome to Manchester City, where the fuck have you been, son!

If there was one player we needed to come good at this moment I would say Nasri. Dave can't create everything on his own for a whole season. Hopefully he can push on now.

Well done NAZZA

I'm sure there were a few raised eyebrows when Barry replaced Mario at half time, but it was obviously the right thing to do.

I think Silva needs a rest and I think last night showed that Nasri can be the one to fill in. Let Silva's ankle get the rest it needs.

I'm not sure Silva and Nasri compliment each other that well and it's a case of one or the other. In which case I'd start Nasri against Stoke.

Dzeko again proved he's better coming off the bench and I think Mario is the same.

Yaya is better further forward which means de Jong and Barry in there. Who else thought we missed GazBaz when he was injured?

Great credit to Agüero and Zaba once again and was very pleased to see Tevez back. Added another dimension to our play.

Just hope we can do the same against Stoke in terms of performance.

A win against Stoke and we go top for the night, atleast, truely the best way to start piling on some pressure of our own. A tricky looking fixture that opens up a bit more once we get that first goal - I hope to see some real urgency from the get go, unlike recent away performances. Fantastic performance last night and 20 straight league wins at home is a City record that will stay in the books for a long time, especially if we can extend it.

I might sound paranoid here but it has only been since De Jong returned to the first team that our attacking flare from early season went away. He seems to be very "old city" in his play style.
I don't agree that De Jong's reintroduction has caused the loss of attacking flare, I think it had already begun before De Jong started to get more involvement in the first team. However I do believe he has exacerbated the situation, his natural game isn't one of quick movement, first time passing and attacking. He likes to take a touch, slow things down, pass the ball sideways rather than forwards. Personally I think at times that's a useful trait to have, however on other occasions he acts as a block to our ambitions.

NDJ occupies a central and pivotal position in the midfield. With his static and stilted sideways passing (yes its good for his passing stats which his promos keep on trotting out) our strikers does not see great service (wasting their runs). Thats our bottleneck and the 'albatross thats hanging our midfield'. Our opponents are not terrified whenever he gathers the ball from our defense or CBs. Why should they?

IMO VK would be a better choice in more ways than one.
VK has all the football atrributes that NDJ has and MORE. VK can also provide TRUE DEFENSIVE COVER for the CBs. His attacking forays (as recent as against Bolton ) has opened up our eyes.

Lescott, Micah & Kolo are reliable CBs. VK's presence in the central midfield position will be the CLINCHER. Allowing Micah & Kolo to attack too.

NDJ as the CB cover gives me the jeebies.

Just imagine if VK, in lieu of NDJ, would Luke Moore have scored? That Goal may have derailed City's title and maybe the turning point in City's history.

Yesterday we revert to Hughes era (7 draw legacy) i.e chasing a game from behind all because of a poor man's holding midfielder.

We scored in 78 & 85th min after subbing out NDJ (66th. min). The match stats details don't lie.
Even if we were not a goal down we should not be in the predicarment of chasing a match to win with our rich talent.

First time I've seen Nasri look allot better than Silva. Fair play to Nasri he was great hope he gets rewarded with another start next week.
