Mourinho's mind games are rooted in one thing only. He is scared shitless of us. He knows there is a very good chance that even if Chelsea play their best, we still win and some chance that they will get a hiding akin to United, Arsenal and Spurs. And he has a psycho owner who has already fired him once and a bunch of others including de Matteo months after he brought him a Champions League trophy. So he is trying to lower expectations by saying "league is Man City's to lose" and "next season league is ours for certain".

If he is scared, that means his players are scared. Same way as Fergie and the United team were in that epic game in 2012 when they came to the Etihad. And we know how that turned out.
