City Vs Spuds Post Match Discussion thread

once again the main focus is on something other than a fantastic result. we won in dramatic fashion yet all focus is on a possible ban.

Understand, but it some people would just man up and admit it was a red, we wouldn't have to keep going on about it. Fact is, it was deliberate, it was nasty and dangerous, he should have been sent off and he WILL get a 3 game ban. Utter tit that he is. And I say that as someone who really loves him.

Still, great result.

Hmmm, seen 2 Fox Soccer Channel highlights and neither mentioned "the stamp". Wonder why.

And yes, back to the actual play. So HAPPY for Nasri. That goal and the way he played afterwards (with confidence) should shut up his detractors...until the next game.

And was Silva named MOTM?
Sky named Milner MOTM

Thought Barry played better than Milner, and we controlled the midfield until Spurs second through the end of the game. Mancini was caught between a rock and a hard place; Spurs put on a third (and later fourth) CM and if Bobby matched we'd have to take an attacking player off while trying to chase the 3 points.

I wish Milner would shoot from a distance a bit more, had one or two chances today. Obviously the chances are very slim but could always get a deflection or goalkeeper bobble.

Barry was great, I don't know about Milner. It's like they played Barry more forward and left Milner behind to protect the back 4. I'm not sure Milner's at his best in that role. He wasn't bad, but I'm not sure he was great either. We are clearly missing Yaya quite a bit, our midfield was at times a bit overrun. Nasri played one of his best games, although really it was after the goal that he came into it. Hopefully he's more of a confidence player and he can build off of it, because after the goal he really was controlling the game.

Are you for real?

I am, and it's just my opinion. With enough Blues lauding him today I'm willing to admit I could be wrong on this... I guess I would say I just didn't notice him that much, but really, it could be on me, I'd defer on this one for sure.
JM was outstanding today and (while it isn't always an accurate reflection of the actual game), he got the MOTM award from Sky. Rightly so as well.

If any other two players in world football scored that first goal we'd never hear the end of it.

Better than barca.

I turned to the wife and said silva just won player of the year with that pass.

Fuck me, someone is smiling down on us, after they got it back to 2-2 I thought we were going to throw it away, brilliant result.

Watch the meeja go nuts about the stamp now though, not intentional IMO....cant say the same for Lescott :o

Of course you do! If it was Defoe you'd be going mental

I was listening to radio london and it sounded like a very entertaining game. There's no question that Harry is a good manager although he does strike me as a crafty brown envelope with cash kind of man such as the transfer of benjani.

Spurs have got brill players but they need a stronger depth of squad.

That elbow by lescott means we will have to endure savic for another 3 games. I know the kid is young, but he came within a hair of costing us 3 points there. If it were Kompany playing today in his place we would have won that game 2 or 3-1.

We need to fucking pray to the footballing gods Kompany doesn't get a injury or another red because he really is our most vital player by a fucking mile.

Well played from the team today. Thought Clichy had a cracker considering he got booked for a stupid few seconds in the first half, thought they would have stuck Lennon/Bale on him to try to get him off.

Barry was as good as ever, beginning to see now just how important to our team he now is. Nasri had a very good game with a quality finish for the first.

The only slight letdowns were Savic (at fault for the first, nearly gave them the winner and looked nervous on the ball) but hopefully he'l improve as he's still only young. Dzeko was ok, he got an assist for the 2nd and was fairly good.. just let himself down with his shooting (and got in the way of an Aguero shot again!).

Deserved the win. For the media to say Spurs play the best football in the league is a joke, it's Blackburn under Big Sam football, kick and run to the big man. As Ade wasn't able to play it was up 'n' over to get Defoe in, it worked once due to a Savic error.. but was extremely negative to watch them pass it back to Friedel time after time or hoof it downfield.... but there was no mention of that from the "pundits".

Yeah, Barry is quality ain't he. Nasri really shined for me today too. Even before his goal, he just seemed more crisp than he has been before.

I disagree with your verdict on Savic though. I thought, up until the first major mistake, he was really good.

Funny, I didn't notice in the game (tottenham's hoofing it) but what a suprise no one says anything.

I don't like Dzeko, if I'm honest. Start of the season, I was turned after being one of his critics during last season, but now I'm slowly going back to my old opinion of him.

Great team performance all in all. I wouldn't be La... Xenon, if I didn't mention Aguero. Absolutely class, he is.

Well.............

We saw today that Spurs are as good as they/the media think they are and they are a bloody good side. However, not quite as good as us.

To be fair they played really well and I feel they're the 2nd best team in the league. However, at 2-0 we let them back in the game with severe sloppiness. Should we have been solid for 10 mins after our 2nd goal it wouldn't have turned out so close at the end.

Some observations:

1. Lescott had a belting game - very Kompany-esque in holding us together.

2. Micah was a beast. He had BAE shit scared and was a potent attacking threat at times. Has to be England's RB.

3. Milner and Barry were immense. Swarming and smothering all over the field.

4. Nasri had a stormer. Seemed really in the mood and was coolness itself.

5. Silva was outstanding and that pass was sexy as fuck.

6. Savic is nowhere near good enough. Cost us the 1st goal and coulda cost us the game. I like the lad but he's very average.

7. Dzeko is shit

Post match:

Souness was gutted we won. Neville's nappy was overflowing but he kept it fairly well hidden. The press/media will 'ignore' how good we were and will instead concentrate on Defoe's miss and the supposed stamp from the black James Bond. We'll be 'lucky' to have won.

Superb result. Puts us 8 ahead of Spurs. Absolute dreamland blues :)

i've just got back, i haven't seen any coverage about our fouls but if they want to start nick picking they can point to the number of fouls committed by parker and vdvm could have been off via totting up.
i did'nt think it was a dirty game and all in all it even itself out.

dzeko was bordering on dire, at 2-0 bob should have had nige on straight away.
savic is nowhere near ready, his display today could have cost us big time. till vinny is back we should play micah there at put zab at rb.
