TEAM NEWS @MCFC: Hart, Clichy, Demichelis, Kompany (C), Sagna, Milner, Lampard, Fernando, Navas, Silva, Aguero

1 up top

I have to say I am surprised. I thought he would stick to Edin and Kun up top.

Considering there is no Zaba, Yaya/Fernandinho and Edin, I think some of them are getting a rest to make sure they are 100% for CSKA.

Shite internationals all over the pissing world have obviously impacted on the managers selection. It's ridiculous that the likes of Zaba were on the other side of the world a few days ago and Yaya only got back on thurs.

More than enough for this current Spurs side but the likes of Sagna need to step up and prove they're worthy of being in this City side.

that midfield lacks power without yay a and fernandinhio in it

going to be a close game i think as we have got nowhere near our strongest team out with mangala, yaya and ferd all missing...very attacking line up though

sagna has been pretty good since he has been here...he aint no zabba but then again very few if any are

New look midfield 3 with Milner, Lampard, Fernando.

Are Yaya and Fernandinho injured then?

We are also playing with full backs who don't offer the 'overlapping' which is such a big part of our system.

Seems like a very 'safety first' approach which is intriguing considering a) this is a team we bummed 11-1 over 2 games last season and b) this is a Pellegrini team.

Milner will play wide. Silva in behind Kun.

we are definitely prioritising Champs league this season (which I don't like tbh as we are nowhere near winning that even with our strongest team available)

just hope we get the 3 pts today......which we should

Soldado upfront. Vertonghen benched. Rose and mason and dier. Fun.

But one striker? And Lampard start? No yaya? zaba? .............we're making it harder for ourselves. Tsk we should've gone for the jugular here.

I really hope this spurs team is crappier than my expectation.

Feels a bit safe that team for me. To change from 2 up top against a team we put eleven past last year seems strange. Saying that Dzeko aguero partnership hasn't really clicked yet. Predict a lampard goal today

I liked him at Arsenal but I think he's been extremely average whenever he's played for us. Awful against Stoke when we lost, didn't manage to get one decent cross in or stretch their back four, and Moses got at him going the other way too. Passing was completely astray against Bayern and again didn't look close to the player who used to put great crosses in whenever we played Arsenal.

Needs a big game today because Zaba is so vital to the width of this team.. Especially with no Kolarov in there too.

navas is also playing so he hasn't got sole responsibility for the width...as long as he defends well today we shouldn't need the fullbacks as much today

i also think cliché is getting a rough time on here undeservedly as for me he is still far better than kolorov defensively (AK is far better going forward though as everyone knows)...sagna just needs more game time i think

Fair enough on Sagna, like I said though I think this is a big game for him.

On the Clichy/Kolarov debate, I don't actually think there is much in it in terms of defensive capabilities, as for me Aleks has improved that aspect of his game. But going forward there is no comparison whatsoever and therefore in home games especially, I always feel more confident with Kolarov playing. The gaffer clearly rates Clichy though and he knows a bit more than me!
