City Vs Stoke Post match Discussion Thread

Bit of a swerveball but how long do you reckon it is since we went four consecutive league games wthout being live on Sky or ESPN or whatever?

lol at Pullis in the post match interview. If you watch/listen carefully you can actually detect his voice cracking each of the 3 or 4 times he makes his £220million quip - almost crying FFS.

I honestly thought pulis was going to go all stan laurel on us and look down the camera and say.."i'm sorry fergie.." and start crying.....
Thank fuck we don't have to play them lot again this season...

There is still the FA Cup

I wouldn't like to play them away in the FA Cup

Stoke away is one of the toughest fixtures .... Utd have to go there in April. The same weekend we play WBA at home

What a nasty piece of work...

Stoke boss Tony Pulis refused to criticise his players after their one-sided defeat by Manchester City, and feels it is difficult to compete with the champions' spending power.

"Someone has just asked me what the difference was and I said about £220m," Pulis said.
Fuck off tracksuit boy you turned up today to play for a 0-0 draw and got exactly what you deserved, FUCK ALL!

He wears the club shop........

Bitter bastard

...the truth will come out, the truth will come out, oh Tony Pulis, the truth will come out.

Good performance and mixed it up pretty well - slow, patient build up along with getting round the back. I thought Milner put some cracking balls across.

On a separate note. Why does Pulis keep having to mention the value of our squad? I think this is the 3rd year he has said so. Doesn't he realise it's the same for every team coming to us but at least some of them put up a bit of a fight. Was expecting a much harder game from Stoke.

Good performance against a team with limited ambition. I thought Clichy was outstanding today as was Zaba and Barry. Vinnie seems to be back to his best.

We controlled the game from start to finish. Everyone in our team played well today. I thought Stoke were one of the poorest teams I've seen at our place this season so far. It's not easy to come to ours & get anything but they didn't show any ambition or desire. Their keeper was trying to timewaste from the start of the match!

3 points aside, what an awful match and "matchday experience" that was today. If i wasn't a seasoncard holder that would have put me off going again for a while.

My first trip to the Etihad and a good performance and win by the lads I thought - should have been more although I did initially predict 3-0 with my mates! But how the Stoke fans can be arsed to travel that far to watch THAT sort of away performance is beyond me, they should ask for a refund!

I thought Stoke was going to give us a real game because they had Jerome, Jones and Walters on but just sat back and got broke down in the end. Good 3 points

stoke were shit but I never get bored of watching City win :=)

They played the same tactics as Reading, but this time we played differently

The difference is that Stoke shouldn't be playing with the same tactics as Reading. Reading are shite. They're relegation fodder. They came and parked the bus in an attempt to get a 0-0 draw, they very nearly got it too, but they did that because it was the only avenue open to them. Reading's side is woefully short on quality, if they'd tried to play football against us we'd have murdered them.

Stoke are not Reading. Whilst not being the most technically gifted set of footballers, they are all Premiership quality (with the possible exception of Wilkinson who is just a clumsy, thuggish League One player stealing a living as a Premiership footballer) and they certainly have a great deal more invention and skill to them than Reading do. You'd expect them to show greater ambition, and to have the ability to make more of a game of it. We've now played Stoke, at home, in the Premiership 5 times, they have still to score a single goal against us! If anything exemplifies their lack of ambition in our games against them then it's that. 3-0, 2-0, 3-0, 3-0 and now another 3-0 are the results we've achieved. Easy wins each and every time. Pulis' tactics of "parking the bus", the tactics he's invariably employed in those 5 games, demonstratively don't work. He either lacks the tactical nouse to achieve a result in this defensive manner, or else his players are not suited to it. Stokes' seemingly annual away struggles would lead you to believe Pulis just doesn't know how to play away from home against Premiership talent. Since they reached the Premier League Stoke have played 87 away games, they've won just 14 of those, drawing 26 and losing 47. They've also only managed to score more than 2 goals in 1 of those 87 matches! Stoke have yet to put together even an average set of away fixtures in a season, their home form is why they stay clear of the relegation fight where they adopt a totally different approach to games. Quite why Pulis does't try a variation of his home tactics in the away games, less attacking obviously but at least with an attempt to get forward, is beyond me. Maybe it's beyond him too.
