City Vs Stoke Pre Match Discussion Thread

I think this is a game where you have to trust the squad, and risk resting a few players, because you can't just keep picking your best team till they get tired or injured, you have to put faith in your squad players.

Looking back to Monday, with Silva coming off early and Kun really coming on because Edin took a knock, it could be that if Edin doesn't make it (don't know the extent of his knock) that perhaps both Milner and Fernandinho will play behind Navas, Yaya and Silva, I think that's perhaps the commitment we'll have to give Jimmy and hope they step up. I know it's tempting to stick with the same side but we have to keep the squad believing they have the chance to play each week.

Sagna--Kompany, Demi--Kolarov

--Silva---------Jovetic------Nasri

------------------Dzeko

Bring Aguero, Navas and Milner/Lampard on for Silva, Jovetic, Nasri/Yaya at HT/second half if we're winning.

2 or 3 changes at the most and Dependant on Dzeko injury Aguero may start.

If Dzeko fit then

Hart
Sagna
Kompany
MDM
Kolarov
Fernadhino
Yaya
Nasri
Silva
Jovetic
Dzeko

Yep , that would be my starting 11 also.

No calls for a retrospective ban for Skrtel from the media.

I am shocked.

Our potential B lineup assuming everyone was fit:

Caballero
Zabaleta
Demichelis
Nastasic
Clichy
Fernando
Lampard
Milner
Navas
Negredo
Aguero

Crazy.
There's no way Zabaleta and Aguero are in our "B Lineup"

Expecting a tough game as usual with Stoke.

I think both fullbacks will be rotated, Fernandinho to get a full game and I think Navas or Milner will play instead of Silva, I say Silva because he will likely be off playing with Spain next week and the week after whereas Nasri has quit international football if I remember correctly, he will be the one that needs to play in my opinion.

We have a big squad now and I think quite a few big name players will be rested and rotated more than last season.

Aguero for me still should be brought back slowly so I still wouldn't start him.

The only tough part of playing Stoke at home Sam is scoring the first goal. After that, it's piss easy and a walk in the park. But the first goal can always be a pain in the arse.

Extra time tonight in Stoke vs. Portsmouth would be nice, unless they play the stiffs, then it doesn't matter anyway.

Why would you drop demichelis? He's been great.

To be fair, with the squad we've got I think it's more about genuine rotation rather than 'dropping' a player. If a player is having a nightmare over the course of a few games, or needs a rest then I think the manager will pull them, but rotation is going to be a major part this season.
