Re: City Ladies

Just got back from the game, lost 0-2

Wind played a big part in the gamd Bristol had wind behind first half and took advantage after they went 2 up City were the better side but nothing quite ran our way. Our girls play reallg good football, its great to see.

Got a free program, there was a mini city square with miss Pike running things. The bar was open in the squash club.

Attendence was1253 which is above the league average. £6 for a game of footy is a bargain. Especially when our girls show so much quality, passion and desire and most have a much better first touch than Dzeko.

Try it, you will be suprised.

Re: City Ladies

Two soft goals and after that we had the better chances, I thought. They hit the post at the end but we could have got back in. Next week should be a good game against CFC. They beat Bristol 2-0 last game so we have four goals to make up. And the EFC game is at the Etihad!!

There are a few clubs with full time players, around £21k a year seems to be the basic rate.
21k, thats got to be a wind up, how is it possible to get paid so much for doin something so badly

Explain...
Theyre not very good at it, is that simple enough for you

Re: City Ladies

Jill Scott was worlds above anyone else on the pitch.

Bad sides: isolated misogyny, and people leaving early, to beat the traffic no doubt.

Re: City Ladies

new season, newly formed team, and new kids on the women's premier league block.
please can people, get off their backs already.

it was their 1st home game, and a lot of these players have only just started playing 'professional' football.
prior to this, they worked/college .ect. as well as training, then playing.
obviously the result didn't go our way,but at the end of the day, these players are playing women's football,
a totally different level to the mens game.
it is not the english premier league ,
they will come good,(M.C.W.F.C) and deserve are support and encouragement.
not to be put down a.s.a p.
but i thing i have learned on Bluemoon,is that if you see players play, for the shirt, and give it their all .
people will come round.
My family and i ,for one one will be going again next week to support the team.

Re: City Ladies

Having watched the first two games of the season, it's clear to see the difference in quality between the likes of Houghton, Scott and Duggan compared to the rest of the team. Not a dig at the others, but to me, it looks such an imbalance in quality. It would be like dropping Kompany, Yaya and Aguero into our side during Pearce's reign.

I'm sure we will get better and look more fluid as the season goes on, I thought in the second half against Liverpool, we actually looked quite decent, today though was very poor, struggled to put more than 3 or 4 passes together. I will tell you one thing though, these girls get stuck in a lot harder than the men do and don't spend half the game diving about all over the pitch.

Re: City Ladies

Was there today. Although the footy was not up to the mens standard it was an entertaining couple of hours. Free programme AND (as a season ticket holder) free entrance too.

Our number 8 Jill Scott ran all game - thought she was excellent. As was Steph Houghton, cleaned up many a time, a real rock at the back. The lovely Toni Duggan also played well despite really not getting the best service - she has some fantastic skill, was up for beating players time after time.

However the downside... our defence (apart from Steph) needs to sort themselves out. They also need to get quicker, outrun far too many times by Bristol forwards chasing down the ball. And the whole team looked exactly what it was, just put together. They're not a unit yet and it showed - I guess that will come. And Bristol wanted it more than we did. They chased every ball and closed down all the time and were very agressive, which leads me to my last point. The ref was far to lenient on them. I felt they roughhoused our girls a bit.

And one plus - we arrived at around 1pm just as the lads were leaving the stadium after training - Pellegrini was in attendance chatting and posing or photos with dozens of fans, excellent. Also saw Jovetic, Zabba, Clichy and Garcia before heading for a burger at the one and only (but proper old fashioned - none of this fancy Jamie Oliver shite) burger fan.
