A few observations from my first ever ladies game today

1/ Anyone considering watching MCWFC in the near future should buy their ticket before the game. Today, despite a relatively small crowd,(when compared with the men’s game) there, were still huge queues at the ticket kiosks, and i would guess that a third of the spectators missed the kick off

2/ The catering prices are disgusting, when you consider the number of small children in attendance.

3/ The standard was better than expected, but Jill Scott is the only player, with a genuine football brain. The rest are extremely fit and skilful, but too often run down blind alleys (Toni Duggan being the biggest culprit)

4/ I’m not sure if this is politically correct, but dare I suggest that the Ladies team appeals to a certain type of butch Canal Street stereotype?

5/ City are at the forefront of ladies football marketing, and for all sorts of reasons, the club will benefit in the long run.

Cannot agree with many of your points which I feel are unfair and inaccurate. Bronze was an outstanding talent in todays game. She was one of the few who had a real feel for making the correct decisions and had the skill to complete her play. Christiansen takes the best corners at the club - the men need to take lessons from her. Houghton does what a central defender should do and can distribute the ball well. They all worked hard for 90 minutes and the younger ones can only improve their skills with more game time. They certainly need to improve in many areas but to say that Jill Scott (who had a great game) was the only one with a footballing brain is completely wrong. Your 4th comment beggars belief and certainly is not going to impress any one with any kind of brain.

For your info. - City are called CITY WOMEN - not ladies

So presumably you also think that it’s perfectly reasonable for dozens of young children to miss the first fifteen minutes, and then be charged £2.80 for a drink that would cost around 90p in a Supermarket?

Also, you can’t compare it with the men’s game because professional male footballers are simply bigger and stronger (the Birmingham goalkeeper must have only been around 5ft 8)

I didn’t say that the other players were poor. However they nearly always have one touch too many, or carry the ball to the wrong areas.

I made the same comment about Jill Scott after the England games because regardless of how well she plays, she’s the only one who looks up before she distributes.

Apologies if I caused offence, but it was the first thing I noticed when walking into the stadium. Everyone is welcome at City.

I made no comment about your issues with tickets or the price of snacks. I did not compare it with the men's game, I pointed out that Christiansen was the best corner taker at the club - any fan out there think that City men's team can take a good corner consistently? In general I would agree with you that the Women's team need to keep their head up more but that was certainly not a mistake that Bronze, Scott or for that matter Houghton was making today.

You are spot on with your first point, it was an absolute shambles getting into the ground, somebody should have walked down the line handing out tickets for people with cash in their hands.

I suggest you pop into ASDA and buy your food and drinks prior to the game if you don't like the prices.

As for the football it was excellent and very refreshing to see both teams trying to get forward and no play acting whatsoever.

The standard is bound to improve as more girls take up the game and get the proper coaching and fitness work.

I will certainly be going again.
