Put simply if we weren’t winning titles every season these ‘so called’ fans claiming to support us would’ve never considered us. End of.

Real mancs are blues, real blues are mancs
I started supporting the club from afar in the 1990's.

If I was in it for the glory, I was either particularly bad at it, or had incredible foresight.

Lambo"9320"...are Aguero, Balloteli, Dzeko, Zabaletta, David Silva & Yaya to be considered as blues? Because all of them contributed to that moment directly or leading up to it? Is Mancini a blue? What about Sorriano? Khaldoon? Sheikh Mansour?

I don't mean to be confrontational but I don't think you guys understand how that hits someone and how that comes across.
I guess

I guess my past glib retorts to United fans not being from Manchester were somewhat insular and probably driven by envy as they were winning everything. Fans of other clubs now view us the same; hence the boring and petty no fans and no history taunts.
I can understand the envy of other fans but they've definitely been spurred on by the media.
So what drives the media? Is it envy, politics, racism or click-bait, or more likely, a combination of all 4?
Anyhow, we should welcome all fans and not judge others by a postcode lottery. No one has the right to act a the moral arbiter of who can and can't support us.
Finally, I would like to thank Rabin for his crusade against the media and the likes of Akio on Twitter for his enthusiasm and commitment to the cause.

The points you raise about , envy, politics, racism or click bait the fact that the British press/media are trying their best to play down City achievements. The fact that even with this going on, on a daily basis and yet City are still attracting fans from around the world , is even more reason to welcome new fans. It means the campaign to play down Citys achievements isnt working.

I've been a regular user of online City resources since 1996, when I went to work abroad and discovered the original Blue View plus the email-based newsletter MCIVTA. Throughout that period, there's always been a contingent of utter fucking dickheads fixated on showing that they're the biggest Blue, and who think themselves entitled to judge others who don't correspond to their ideals as not being proper fans.

I write too many essays on here as it is, and I could pen another one here about how a minority of local, match-going fans are twats who I'd be happy to see piss off to Stockport County while I'm aware of plenty of sound, recently signed-up foreign fans whom I'm proud to know as fellow Blues. I'll spare you that.

Instead, I'll just suggest that we all remember one simple maxim: it's not where you're from, it's where you're at.

Good article here ,about what you're saying

I think a vital thing we all to remember is that ‘different’ doesn’t mean ‘inferior.’ we all have different reasons for supporting the club and different pathways by which we came to be supporters. And although obviously it’s a massive point in common that we all share, it means different things for each of us. For me, not having lived in Manchester for longer than a few months at a time since the age of 18, City is a thread that ties me to the place I consider home. That’s a different type of emotional bond to someone who still lives there and goes every week, or to someone who lives in Australia or Singapore or India, whether or not they have a mancunian exile parent or some other such ‘proper’ reason to support City. None of us is a better or worse fan (or at least, our place of origin isn’t what determines that), we’re just different. Variety’s the spice of life basically innit.

Do you have to continue to live in Manchester to be considered a real blue?
I hope not. I moved to the States 30 years ago to earn a crust and raise my family. Never looked back and accepted that I would have to make the sacrifice of giving up watching my beloved team who I have supported all my life. I would listen to crackly World Service in the hope that there would be a mention of my team. Thank God for the internet and now live games worldwide. My Dad took me when I was two years old to my first game. I was a season ticket holder in the Platt Lane and Kippax, lived in Moss Side, then Cheadle Hulme then San Diego, now Seattle. I always try to attend games when I return and have been fortunate in getting tickets with help from my family and friends. I am up at 3:30am ready to watch the City v West Ham game live as I just can’t sleep through it! So the answer is a big “No”, you don’t have to live in Manchester to be a Blue and in some cases, I would argue that those that live outside of Manchester are actually bigger Blues than some of those who live there. Thanks for posing the question.

Apart from Soriano they all earned their respect. Don’t know about you pal but the only people I have a problem with are the type of fans who supports us with no regard to the history/ the city just cos we’re good. I don’t mind anyone supporting city, as long as it’s for the right reasons.
Personally I have respect for any blue that supported us pre takeover anywhere around the world.

We sort of had this exact argument about 20 years ago, IIRC. Takes on a bit of an edge for me these days. Being born in a particular place matters to each of us. But it's never a reason to exclude or look down on people from elsewhere. Anything else is negative, short sighted, self-indulgent twattery.
