CL Quarter Final MCFC v Chelsea

Just so. Puzzling. I strongly suspect that it's the men who swell the numbers for the derby, because they'll go along to see anything in the hopes of seeing the evil rags beaten. Were there many men there last night, though? I was paying attention, and there really didn't seem to be many.

On another topic: I've got a good friend, long-standing from college days, who strenuously objects to being called a “lady”. And I've got another good friend who strenuously objects to being called anything else!
Complicated, the wimmin, aren't they?
It is the fact it was anight match, if you rely on public transport you are lucky if you get home on the same day.

When the ladies were playing at the weekend in the summer at 3pm the crowds were building up very nicely. Night matches and winter in that stadium are hazardous to your health.

Great night for City women. Very little passing back, very little passing sideways, energy levels high, skills abundant and two great goals.
Why was this?…..Taylor has gone and the team like each other.
Onwards and upwards

The Taylor era was defined by a lack of tactical flexibility. Very one note football and if Plan A didn't work there was no Plan B. We saw this lack of flexibility both in-game and also a failure to adapt when we had injuries.

We have some decent squad depth in forward positions now. Not just in numbers but also skill sets. When Bunny was injured Taylor would just try play the same system with someone else shoehorned into her position. We need a manager who can look at who IS available rather than who ISNT and play to the strengths of those players. We saw that last night.

I thought it was interesting that Steph was on the bench last night, has there been anything official about that ? She was sat with Lauren on Saturday, though couldn't make out if they were on the bench or in the stands as I only saw it once.

Yep it was confirmed this week that she's joined Cushing's coaching staff and she was on the touchline with him last night.

Really astute move! Steph's clearly been coaching the players in an unofficial capacity for a while now (including under Taylor). Seems perfect timing to make it official. She played under Cushing and is a good bridge between past and present which should help both the players and the coach get to know eachother.

She's clearly respected by the squad too.

With Cushing's appointment presently just interim, it's a great way of getting Steph some more experience working with someone she knows and respects.

Thanks, must have missed that news, but good move all round, I wonder if that is why Cushing is "interim" ?

Rowntree-McIntosh.

Stick to my first response eh,you'll be more comfortable !!

Aww. What’s it like in that hole you’re digging.
Maybe Pep is reading your comments to get some ideas on how to run a team when you’ve got 4 major injuries. Perhaps you could offer him some constructive advice rather than just criticising

Would be more helpful & would demonstrate whether you know anything about managing a team rather than doing what any Tom DICK & Harry can do over a pint.

Steph would appear to be the logical choice for a future manager; however shes obviously got far bigger things in her personal life going on, so whatever time she can give to the club and the squad is greatly appreciated.

I wish her and her husband well in all that they do.

I've watched City since 1958 from a 6 year old, home, away and abroad.

13 season tickets in ESL3,Centre block.

Run u12s team in Lepton, second in league & ditto in Jumeirah.

Pepball is currently shite as evidenced by our league position and cup exits.

I don't subscribe to the fanboy/girl adoration, I seen em all come and go.

Don't bother the forum with a reply they're busy waiting for something more important !!

If it was shite we’d be in the drop zone.

4000 in a 7000 stadium after getting 46,000 against the rags doesn't answer the question mate.
I never intended to infer that it did. You raised the issue of the poor attendance, I posted the club's official view, for context. FWIW, I agree with you. It's odd that they couldn't sell out for that game last night.

The clubs marketing/rallying call to fans to turn out on a pleasant spring evening was appalling.

We do many things well, and many things atrociously.

Chavs attendance next week will be interesting....they'll market the socks off it !!

Gutted to miss going last night but family had to take priority at the last minute . Really pleased to see us play a more penetrating , forward looking style of football , with some really good passing through the lines from midfield . I thought Fowler was outstanding and Hwe marshalling from deep had a great game . We are always good at pressing ( take note men's team ) but last night it was more effective at unsettling Chelsea . Only downside was the last ten minutes tiredness set in but delighted with the late goal to give us a cushion in the second leg .

I think the womens game has got legs (No pun intended) if the club tried to address the erratic attendances it would help it no end.

I don't know what they'll do to make that happen though, just putting it out there.
