CL R16 - Real Madrid - (A) 26/02 - (H) 17/03

I think it will be Dortmund, hard games whoever we draw.
I've got a feeling it will be Dortmund as well. Similar feeling to the one I had about drawing Spurs last season. If I end up correct again just call me an oracle.

O
How do they come by these figures?
Complicated arithmetic
You can't play a team from your home country and the other qualifier from your group
So the maths has to take into account the above plus the same rule for every other qualifying team
It's generally correct in that we have always drawn the team we had the biggest chance of. However its interesting to see Liverpool have the same % chance of drawing four teams as ourselves

Why would we be underprepared?
Because we aren’t really used to knocking out the big teams in the CL knockout stages, let’s face it. In fact over the past couple of years we haven’t faced any top foreign teams so it won’t exactly help us if we keep facing shit opposition as we won’t be used to playing those crunch two-legged knockout games against teams like Real, Barca, etc.

We’ve knocked out Dinamo Kyiv, PSG, Schalke and Basel. Only one of those is a top team. I think knocking out one of the top teams in the round of 16 would help us make a big statement and would fire the players up psychologically and really make them believe that we can beat whoever we face in the next round

I hope the cnut Dippers draw Real Madrid. I bet they will get an easy draw, these Dippers cnut luck are surreal, I bet they get Lyon, you read here first.

I however do not want MCFC draw Real. They sure are not the Real couple years ago, but I wouldn't underestimate Zidane.

Because of the criteria of not playing the other team from your group and any of the sides from your own association, the draw is very much dependent on who is drawn out of the bowl first.

The runners up get drawn first so if Chelsea or Spurs come out earlier on it reduces the sides we can play, I hope that doesn't happen.

Whoever we get it is not going to be easy but at least with all the teams being from the top European leagues there will be no long trips for our supporters.

Well given the current situation where it looks like we will have to concentrate on the cups this season a failure to get into the quarter finals would be very bad.
I dont fancy us against Real and Atletico. They have serious knockout stage experience of getting really far in it.

Lyon, Dortmund would be able to hurt us but we would be clear favourites before the tie of course we were vs Monaco 3 years ago too.
Napoli is a dark horse now, Gattuso coming in, there was bit of chaos there recently not sure if its solved with Ancelotti gone, as some payers want to leave maybe, allso they are shit in Seria A so far, they are not in top4 currently, they are the hardest to say how strong they are really, I mean only them were able to beat Liverpool this season.

Thing is no easy draws, we were quite lucky with Basel and Schalke last two seasons for the 1/16 round and they were one or two level below the current possible opponents.

Even Carabao, when we beat Oxford after that the semifinal will be like City, Leicester, United and Liverpool. Hell of a two game semi for us whoever we get there. We need to sort our defending otherwise we are in for a shock.

I'd take anyone other than Real Madrid. They're UEFA's blue-eyed boy and you know every decision would go their way.

I doubt they will get past Aston Villa with a youth team.
