do you basically write to your bank asking if any of the products you've received off them ( credit cards or loans) had PPI included , and are they obliged to tell you if they did ?

go to http://www.moneysavingexpert.com all the info is there if you are still not sure I think you can request all your credit history details from your bank for £10 they have to supply it to you by law.

I only had my cc so it was pretty easy but basically any loan, mortgage,cc if you paid ppi to the supplier then you might be entitled to some back. Good luck

I swapped banks a good 7 or 8 year back and since disposed of everything I had to do with them, could I still get intouch even though I have no account details to supply them with?

I'm not 100% certain on that but pretty sure if you look through the forums or faqs on the martin lewis' site you will find your answer
