Clarence Seedorf?

ONe of my all time favourite players, absolute class and could play that deep play maker role that we were crying out for last season at times. Think he'll do one year more at least.

He is n't really a Deep lying playmaker though, at his peak he was an energetic AM who was converted from Right Midfield and played on the left of the diamond for Milan. If he was to play in our team we would need runners in the team to cover for him, in some of the champions league games I have seen him in he was lost for pace and was forced to use his upper body strength in challenges because he just does n't have the energy to tackle anymore.

Edit; forget to mention if we are looking for a regista then we should go for a specialist rather than Seedorf who played in that role to account for his loss of pace and the loss of Pirlo (first to injury and then to Juve). Ever Banega would be a good option for that role.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Seedorf weighed in on the discussion, claiming: "Looking back at his career, his agents and every move he has ever made, I think Tevez will go where they can promise him the most money."

The Rossoneri had appeared to be in pole position to snap up the striker, but that deal has fallen through, according to the latest reports, and Seedorf does not have high hopes that Tevez will join the club.

"Milan would be the first time in his life that he has chosen a club for his career rather than the money. We'll see what happens."

Never said he was a deep lying playmaker in his pomp but his range of passing, quick thinking and ability to create time on the ball could work well in our side as a deep lying playmaker next to some like de Jong for certain games. I wanted us to sign Pirlo last year and was laughed at by some people and he's been one of Juve's best players as they've won the title.

You 're right he is a hypocrite; he left a champions league winning Ajax for sampdoria who were already on the decline after Paolo Mantovani's death and left a year earlier for Real Madrid. In short he is wrong to criticise players for being mercenaries and I think his long stay at Milan had alot to do with Carlo Ancellotti's long tenure and use of the same 4-3-1-2 formation for most of that time.

He had a big dig at City, therefore he doesn't deserve to be here.

Pirlo's move has worked out yes, however he is covered in midfield by two energetic midfielders; Vidal and Marchisio and at Milan last season Seedorf played in a midfield that contained Nocerino, Boateng and Van Bommel i.e. he didn't have to put in the running or tackles, we would have to change our set up to accomodate him and have players like Barry, YaYa and Milner covering him and bench nasri and use Silva in the CAM role. Only Milner is suited to that role and why take Nasri out of the team and have YaYa playing a less prominent role those two players are of increasing rellevance where as Seedorf is the complete opposite when it comes to top level football.

That too of course, we have no doubt attracted a few mercs but players like adebayor and robinho are no longer here and lets hope Tevez learns the error of his ways because he will never have it this good at another club. Hate how he now appears as an ex-superstar pundit when he was hardly the star in any other the teams he played for.

Writing on the forum is easy that we are the champion and every young and rising star would want to be here, but who in the right mind will come and sit on the bench without guarantee the place in the starting 11 and will need to start behind Yaya, Silva, Nasri, Barry, DJ, Milner, Johnson and etc. for a season or two before establish himself in the new team?

Please. That article is 6 months old, and the speculation on a move to AC Milan is the subject. It isn't a dig, it's a fact. The same thing has been said many times about Tevez.

So if the question was, Clarence, do you think Tevez will sign? Then he answered honestly and fairly without any trace of hypocrisy, IMO.

Looks like more of a dig at Tevez who is a mercenary and no matter what he helps us win I will never forgive him for what he did.

The same thing has been said about Tevez many times however to portray Tevez as being solely motivated by money and have a dig at him for that is hypocrisy when at least one of Seedorf's transfers points to similar behaviour; why leave a club who had just won the Champions league for a club that was bankrolled to success (nothing wrong with that) but who had declined since that success if it was n't for money. Just to Back up my view, Sampdoria finished 8th in the season prior to him joining and in the season he was there, both times over 20 points or more off the winners. He was a good player no doubt but I dont like him, you said he was honest, well he could have yes I think he will sign or No he won't there was no need to aim a dig at Tevez or the club. I also think that the nice guy persona he portrays is just that; a persona .

He comes out with some rubbish like he was a part of Holland getting to the World Cup Final, no Clarence you were past it and not in the squad, does n't matter what happened in the qualifiers; if England win the Euros do we all have to thank Jack Wilshire or Adam Johnson. The tournament is played out and won in the tournament, if you are not in the squad of 23 you are not part of any success or failure at the tournament, simple as that

Edit: just seen on Wikipedia that his last international was in 2008 so I don't know why he believes he had any role in Holland's WC success; he fell out with Van Basten and was n't used because of the latters prefernce for younger players and did n't feature for the Oranje again; he has been over the hill a long time ago.

Rino Gattuso was a good DM in his Day, okay he has had vison problems in his left eye but I'm sure If we give him an eye patch and palm him off as a pirate, players have been described as buccaneering before how about just a buccaneer. No he has joined a lower level club like FC Sion as veteran on a last pay day the same scenario Seedorf would be looking at.

P.S. If you are reading Mr Gattuso, I don't intend any offence about your eyesight issues, just making a lighthearted joke and not laughing at your expense.

It was clear dig at every world class player who joined City of being a mercenary.

As simple as that.

Nope. Not to me. Don't care if Tevez is criticized for one moment. Brought everything on himself and he can rot in it. If anyone doesn't deserve to be here, it's that louse.

Well why don't we sign players that are to replace the likes of Barry and Milner? I've got nothing against either of them and I genuinely think that they are top drawer players but if there's better options out there then surely we should sign them and make these 2 your squad players?

Same goes for anyone in our 1st team. We need to keep evolving, keep investing in the first team and not the squad.

I don't buy into buying players just to sit on the bench.

-- Fri Jun 22, 2012 12:55 pm --

He will take it on the chin no doubt but one thing is that we can't deny Tevez is that when he finally came back into the squad he showed a team mentality and helped us win the league.

For that, I personally am very grateful!!

'I really believe if you are a player who thinks only about money then you could end up at Manchester City.

Clichy wrote that in 2009.

Ha Ha, was intended to prevent a backlash from any who might have been offended.
I thought it was thinly veiled myself, as I said I was n't making fun of someone's ill health or disability and did n't want anybody getting touchy and thinking I did. I obviously don't think Gattuso reads the forum.

This post is great - only to be let down by the last paragraph.

Clarence Seedorf has been an exceptional player over the course of his long career, and to have spent 10 years at AC Milan is outstanding. I think it's disrespctful for anyone to compare him to a used car.

MCFC no longer require a player like Seedorf as we've moved on - but let's show respect where it's deserved.

Personally I hope he retires, and doesn't do anything to tarnish a fine reputation.

I think you are reaching when you assume that I am being disrespectful to a player whose career and profile reflect the type of player that we are trying to attract to our club. I was not comparing him to a used car, but rather using an analogy. We don't need to subsidise someone's pension, when they have and will do nought for us. We need someone to come in to do a job. Using your logic, everyone that would come to us would be considered a used car, even if they were an 18 year old youth player from another club. However, I do thank your contribution and for indirectly referring to me as a disrespectful glory hunting bastard. I'll try to be a bit more civil next time, and think twice before posting an educated comment on a forum board from my ivory tower.
