Yep, been done for drink driving:
The court heard the Preston North End defender, who is on loan from Burnley FC, was so drunk in the hours before he was pulled over, he reported his car stolen as he had forgotten where he was parked.

Plus: Jason Roberts has hit back at Clarke Carlisle’s condemnation of last October’s boycott of the Kick It Out anti-racism campaign, branding the PFA chairman’s words ‘disgusting’. Reading striker Roberts led the boycott of Kick It Out’s t-shirts in protest of the PFA’s handling of the racial abuse suffered by Patrice Evra and Anton Ferdinand.In his autobiography Carlisle describes the boycotters as ‘cowards’ and ‘s**thouses’, but Roberts issued an impassioned retort to the former Watford and QPR defender in the Independent on Sunday.

Plus: The PFA were forced to apologise over the controversial comedian at their annual awards ceremony.

Maybe you should read his autobiography before spouting the shite that you have just written. Granted he might not be brain of Britain but he certainly doesn't deserve the grief that some of you are giving him on here. Plenty worse like Owen out there.

Jesus. The bloke could send the birds to sleep on the clothes line in the garden, but I wouldn't wish that on him. "Hit by a truck"? Doesn't sound like he was in a car at the time. Odd. Rumours (repeat for the hard of hearing, RUMOURS) on Twitter that it might have been a suicide attempt. Very sad, if true.

An excellent ambassador for the game. He does lots of work in the background that a lot of people don't see or appreciate.

Met him a few times at work, and he's a genuinely nice guy .

If the rumours are true, it seems like his demons got the better of him today.

Hopefully he'll make a full recovery and get back to what he does best.
