I will crack with on the law suit, I am just trying to find what the ism is for abuse of the lanky balding lurch-o-likes is, then I will file the papers.

Bloke in Manchester was beaten, stamped on and hit with a meat cleaver. He got £500 in compensation from one of his attackers(both of whom escaped jail)
Hurt someone's feelings by calling them a name and if you're rich you get taken to the cleaners. £100,000 for hurt feelings, and probably 3 times that amount for the money grubbing shysters representing him.
The world is indeed fucked.

Not entirely sure what is going on here. It's being reported they were at an employment tribunal today. If its an employment tribunal case I assume he resigned and is claiming constructive or unfair dismissal from the BBC? If so then from April this year the maximum award was set at 78 grand or 52 weeks pay whichever is the lower sum.

If he wants to take out a private prosecution against Clarkson that is surely far more precarious. If he sues for injuries from an assault I think that would be an easy enough case. There doesn't appear to have been any denial from Clarkson that he hit him and weren't injury photos circulating afterwards? He could get some comp for injuries. I would have thought that the racially motivated thing is the dodgy one. Whilst the burden of proof in a civil rather than criminal case is lower he would have to show that Clarkson is in effect racist and acted in a racially motivated way in assaulting him - if he failed he'd have his own costs to pay and possibly Clarksons - ouch !!

I've never understood why the odious swine has such a strong following. Assaulting a producer because there was no hot food in a hotel and now the alledged racist insult yet this new show on Amazon will inevitably be watched by millions. I dislike him as much as I dislike Jonathan Ross.

Different strokes for different folks.
 
Just finished reading "And on that bombshell" a book written by a writer on top gear. The final chapter reads as a betrayal by Clarkson ruining a hard working, close knit team. He knew he'd fucked up, gave the whole production team a half asked apology and wasn't seen again.

Being tired and hungry isn't an excuse to hit someone. Reading the book you get the impression that everyone worked above and beyond to create the great TV we watched. There's moments in the book where Clarkson says he couldn't do it without the whole team. He lashed out and paid the ultimate price. I think Amazon have paid handsomely for a dud. He ruined the best formula they had by an act of stupidity and he knows it. The book compares top gear and the BBC to naughty school kids and a headmaster. The headmaster has gone, only anarchy will remain and people will get bored very easily by it.

I recently read that he has, in essence, poached virtually all his old production team for his new Amazon TV venture??

Not condoning his actions but, if true, that most of the old gang are back with him, Hamster & Captain Slow is there an element of sour grapes from Mr Tymon as everyone was asked to rejoin except him??

The writer has also rejoined after making up with Clarkson which he announced in an radio interview for his book. Yet he still has reservations as he says the BBC kept the team and their ideas in check. With Amazon they have total control which could bite them on the arse as they may go too far without realising it until too late.

They do consider the reaction from viewers when doing their challenges. For example the challenge of building a Caterham before the stig got to them in Scotland originally was going to be a skit where they got all their wives driving up to stop them instead. Clarkson decided to drop it along with Wilman the producer as they knew they'd get a load of negative publicity and accusations of sexism even though they got their partners involved to do it as if to show that despite all their bravado they are all pussy whipped.

I feel Clarkson killed his golden goose. I bet there's loads of clauses to recoup the money if the new show bombs on Amazon.
