Clarkson Suspended by BBC

I firmly believe that respect is a lot more important, and a lot harder to achieve, than popularity. I have zero respect for that long-head. Just google his name and maybe add the word "row" on the end of it and see how many times he's upset people with his neolithic comments. He thinks due to his perceived popularity that he's above being reprimanded for his words and his actions. Kinda raggy IMO. Don't like the guy. Don't watch the guy. Hope he's stepped far enough over "the line" for him to be shown the door, that way I won't ever have to say "I'm not watching that tw*t!" as I reach for the remote control.

Making junk TV that lots of people want isn't exactly hard.

The lower orders will watch any old rubbish, just as they'll buy any old rubbish.

A million fast food joints and tattoo parlours can't be wrong.

snobbery
ˈsnɒb(ə)ri/
noun
noun: snobbery; plural noun: snobberies
the character or quality of being a snob.
"the worst aspects of English class snobbery"
synonyms: affectation, pretentiousness, condescension, affectedness, pretension, elitism, snobbishness, arrogance, pride, haughtiness, airs, airs and graces, disdain, disdainfulness, superciliousness, exclusiveness;

Not an endearing trait but the definition fits you to a tee my friend.
He's bang on though isn't he. The majority of popular culture is aimed at the lowest common denominator and they fucking lap it up.
Top gear, X factor, corrie, east enders, strictly, bgt, I'm an attention seeking twat get me out of here. Tv for those with fuck all better to do. Turn it off and get a life.

No mate, I don't think he is.

For what little it's worth, I'd rather be on fire than watch any of the stuff you've listed.

However, while I can be a bit of a c**t at times, It would never occur to me to sit in judgement of the way others get there enjoyment.

I'll leave that for those on here with what is often an unfounded sense of superiority.

Snobbery....Hate it with vengeance.

There are a few posters who have invested enough hate without actually watching JC.
He's done something right ;-)

Oh, I've watched him alright, on occasions I've even been unfortunate enough to have seen him on his "my opinion matters" boys club car show.
I soon came to the conclusion that I don't like the stuff that comes out of his mouth. Won't watch him any more.
Like I said, his opinions and his vitriol just remind me of those that a rag would have.....Hate HIM with a vengeance.

I'm inclined to agree with Stewart Lee's impression of Clarkson as a cynical man who is paid very well by a public corporation to have certain pretend opinions and to say controversial things to generate viewers and therefore money by oversees licence sales and bubble bath shaped like the Stig.. Just like Adrian Durham does on talksport, only with fewer listeners than viewers. A professional troll. I don;t watch his programs because I find him boring and irritating and because I've a much lower interest in cars than my two year old nephew. If he's off the national wage bill for good then so much the better. He'll make his money with Sky or ITV, for certain.

Its just entertainment - the presenters are caricatures of themselves - for a long time people have taken this all too seriously - if you want factual car programming watch Fifth Gear.

All of the above does not make Clarkson above "the law" however.

This show makes the bbc 300million a year, that's some shortfall if it all if a sudden it becomes less popular to sell around the world...he will be back...
