Not my daily, but gets used in a rotational system, don't ask!!

That Bug is 'The woman' a friend of mine Andy Ham built a few years back. Full show car under the skin. He built the engine in my Notch a few weeks back.

Dont believe this - this magazine from May 2006 has just popped up on eBay when I did my daily VW Splitscreen parts search!!

I would LOVE a classic Beetle, my life ambition to own one. Thing is, i have never driven one, how different/hard are they to drive?

They're nothing like a modern car - but that's half the fun. No power steering, no assisted brakes and a hell of a lot noisier are just a few things to consider.

Having two tons of bus and unassisted drum brakes makes you drive a lot more sensibly and leave a healthy gap between you and the car in front.

You can get a project car from £250 and then anywhere inbetween up to £30k. Parts are as readily available as an Astra or Focus - plus they're cheaper and loads of used bits avialable on forums and eBay.

My mate has got a Rover P6 only the 2litre,in a mustard colour.Just needs a new interior,nice car though.If i had the money i would get a v6 one.

They are absolute dogs to drive. I borrowed one about 20 years ago and even compared to the cars then it was utter shite.

the missus bought an mx5 this week but also in the showroom was an E type Jaguar with 40 miles on the clock, also some car dating back to 1922 with 10 miles on it.

A lad I went to school with is really into VW vans and Beetles - fitting Porsche wheels and engines etc. There's a lot of work goes into getting them pristine. I wish I had the skill and patience to even attempt it
