This is my favourite thread ever on bluemoon. My partners dad died last year and he was a top reggae dj born in jamaica but moved here as a young man. He was on the local radio scene and was a massive city fan. I remember when she took me to meet him for the first time I was scared about being a white gut meeting his black girlfriends father for the first time.
Luckily for me he was a dj and music fan and a massive blue. The only tension that day was my mrs trying to get a word in edge ways for all our music and city talk. Devestated when he passed away last October r.i.p Fly.

Here's my personal top ten reggae tunes in no order

here I come barrington levy
double barrell dave and ansil collins
I chase the devil max Romeo
under mi sleng teng Wayne smith
al Capone prince buster
funky Kingston toots & the maytalls
draw your brakes scotty
cocaine Dillinger
croaking lizard lee scratch perry
sitting in limbo jimmy cliff

hope you check these out

TopRop tune thanks for your sympathy the bad thing was he was on the radio the day before he went totally unexpected I'm lucky enough to know him personally cos I'm with his daughter, but at the funeral the while Jamaican community turned out it wad indeed a special day, and tribute to a top city fan and top Manchester reggae dj. Went too soon but taught me about reggae music and when it comes to music I consider myself the dogs.

Top man .

I would advise anyone who likes their reggae to check out a new UK band - The Skints. They're a punky reggae band, but they're not messing about.
