Classic Rock (Phil Collins lives, run for the hills)

I can't even begin to express how much I love Lonesome Jubilee. It is a brilliant album and in my all time top 20 on musical grounds alone but also it was a big part of the soundtrack to my 5 month secondment in Nashville as it was released when I was there and got lots of radio play. I was already a big fan of Mellencamp who was on a run of excellent albums and then topped the lot with Lonesome Jubilee.
Same here. After my in-depth blog post on Chris Whitley’s “Living With The Law” earlier this year (my second favourite album of all time), I really need to write a similar piece on Jubilee. Now I know there’s a few fans on here, maybe this will give me the impetus for an autumn project!

Everything Mellencamp did between Scarecrow and Human Wheels was fantastic. I also love Mr Happy Go Lucky and Life Death Love and Freedom which is 7 first class albums. Saw him once at the NEC in 1992 - an amazing show.

I’ve listened to a few Jason Isbell albums over the last few years and he is pretty good. My favourite “recent” singer of this ilk is Josh Ritter.
i agree , I even like his early John Cougar stuff, my brother saw him supporting Rod Stewart when he was calling himself Johnny Cougar
i was at that NEC gig

i quite like Josh Ritter ive got a couple of his albums and saw him live a few years back

The album of the Broadway shows is a joy but I prefer the epic feeling E Street Band stuff but Born in the USA is my favourite album of his and another of my all time top 20 albums.

I think Bruce and his band are simply the best live act still playing and I think they might be coming to Europe again next year.
I have nothing by Bruce but totally respect him as an artist and a man.
I’m with Saddleworth on this though insofar as I prefer his Americana stuff and didn’t really go for that Born in the USA period.
