Clattenburg (Update p59 - not selected next weekend)

Any kind of pattern or trend in this then?

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/oct/29/mark-clattenburg-referee-contentious" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012 ... ontentious</a>

Jan 2005 Pedro Mendes 'goal'
Clattenburg fails, along with his assistants, to spot the Tottenham midfielder Mendes's shot has been fumbled over the line by the Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll in a match at Old Trafford and a goal is not given

Oct 2007 Tony Hibbert sent off
The Durham-born referee sends off the Everton full-back in a Merseyside derby. After appearing to be about to show Hibbert a yellow card, Clattenburg seems to change his mind and pulls out a red after a brief exchange with Steven Gerrard. He later does not send off Dirk Kuyt for a two-footed lunge at Phil Neville. He does not referee another Everton match until 2012 and has yet to reappear at Goodison Park

Aug 2008 Sacked over business dealings
He is suspended pending a probe into his business affairs following allegations he owes £60,000 as a result of a failed venture. He is then withdrawn from the FA Community Shield match between Manchester United and Portsmouth and later sacked by the Professional Game Match Officials Board. In February 2009 he is reinstated as a Select Group Referee on appeal but suspended for eight months from 6 August, 2008, – the date of his original ban – for "issues relating to his private business affairs"

Dec 2009 Craig Bellamy accusation
It is alleged, in a match between Bolton and Manchester City, that Clattenburg asks the City bench: "How do you work with Craig Bellamy all week?" He later sends off Bellamy for a second yellow

Oct 2010 Nani goal stands
Clattenburg correctly, if controversially, allows a goal to stand between Manchester United and Tottenham when the alert Nani seizes his chance to tap in to the empty net after the Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes puts down the ball, believing his side had a free-kick. Clattenburg had not blown his whistle

Breaking News

Mark Clattenberg's family are insistent that the controversial referee doesn't have a secret agenda against Manchester City.

"The red card's for Bellamy, Adebayor, Boyata, Clichy and Milner are purely coincidental, the non penalties at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge are a red herring and the Stoke handball was solely the fault of Peter Crouch"

Clattenberg's two sons, Eric and Ole were speaking from the family home at Carrington.

Metropolitan Police receive a complaint in relation to Mark Clattenburg's conduct at Stamford Bridge yesterday.

So I assume he`ll be investigated for taking a bung.

You would like to think so, but I doubt it, but I am pretty sure we have seen the last of him, to much baggage with him now

His next match for the rags will be against us in the derby
Nailed on

To be honest I don't think so, I doubt he will ref another Prem Game, he has a bad record and this time he excelled himself, the Football authorities can be very stupid, but they will know this has a whiff about it, and will want to do all they can to dampen down the fire, it's damaging to them and their "brand" I think he is toast

You're forgetting how stupid and bent the FA are.

What is Twitter saying, BTW. I hear there are rumours about what was supposed to have been said.

Bernstein has always come across to me as an honourable man and anything within his remit will be dealt with properly.

Even his kids are named after Rags. Bent as fcuk!!!

And I assume you also believe he lives in Carrington.

You would have thought with all the brown envelopes he could have bought a house in a better area.
