I thought that was fair enough, there were a few stoppages in the 2nd half plus 3 more subs in normal time which are usually worth 30 secs each.Where did 5 minutes added time come from?

Was expecting to see a thread along these lines but woke up to find none surprisingly so I decided to give it a go. Watched Baily's challenge on Otto countless times yesterday and it's not even a contest that it ought to have been a penalty. Baily's right foot plainly clears Otto's left foot, which deprived him the needed balance to take a simple shot towards united's goal given that his left foot was the one on the ground. What amazes me is that this has got next to no mention whilst their fans are blaming the result on Bravo's challenge. We all know that we outplayed them and deserved the win (most of them I talked to acknowledge this) but the excuse they give regarding Bravo's
challenge is just ridiculous. There was also another penalty shout where Nolito weaved his way past Valencia iirc and was held in the box for long periods before he got dispossessed. These and a few other points like Rooney stamping on Fern didn't get the right call. All in all I thought the ref was fair but the above calls are undebatable imho.

In the chance that the referee saw it differently as in he didn't get the ball, it would be a yellow because it was not serious foul play. He was geniunely going for the ball. But it's not a foul because he got the ball.

I watched the NBC transmission and had it running alongside Sly's. Lee Dixon was astonished it wasn't given, yet Neville and co glossed over it even during the replay!!
I was stunned at the difference!

It was a definite penalty. There are a few GIFs about on one great angle to show his planted foot being tackled from behind that threw him off balance and the shot strayed just less than a yard outside the post.
if he wasnt hacked down, de gea who was on ground after stopping Ferns shot wont have much of a chance saving it. The best case for a penalty all game.
The Nolito one is also a call but I can see how some refs would not give it. Mike Dean would give it based on his standards.

The point is watch the holding in the box before he even gets the ball that is a clear penalty

We even have the luxury of a rested Aguero for Borussia Munchengladbach so it all entirely back-fired on Utd

we have seen how much toys they threw out of the pram for the Aguero 3 match ban. Not surprising really, if City told to play with feet tied and blindfolded they'd take it.

This is what I thought it would be a yellow under this seasons rules same with a defender .Keeper fouls aren't necessarily reds this season but I'm sure clattenberg would have had him off if he'd given it.
Not seen a player be treated on the pitch and play carry on yet,and are players that have been injured getting fouled going off and coming back on again ,as I don't think they have too anymore ?

Thought he did OK yesterday to be honest. Yes, maybe he could have given a penalty against bog brush on Nolito, but equally he could have sent Bravo off. (I didn't think that was a red card challenge personally, but I've seen a lot less given.)
And OK, so he should have booked shrek at least twice. But he didn't slant the playing field massively one way or another. We went in with a lot of strong challenges that a bent ref would have blown for.

No complaints really, in my view he could well have given a penalty against Bravo...and possibly showed a red card, and yes Rooney should and would be of the park most weeks were he anyone else...but that does seem to be an FA unwritten rule across the board...Though shalt not send shrek field of play.
One way or another yesterday was an excellent game of football and showed the world what a Manchester derby can produce and Clattenburg played his part by not being fussy letting the game flow.

Only difference this season is that if it's a goal scoring opportunity and a penalty is given, it's a yellow card rather than red so long as (in ref's opinion) there was a genuine attempt to play the ball (i.e. a mistimed tackle) - but holding back a player who has a goal scoring opportunity will still be red (you can't mistime grabbing a player). Outside the penalty area it will still be red for denying a goal scoring opportunity (even if the player was trying to play the ball). You only don't have to go off after treatment if the player committing the foul was cautioned or sent off (so carte blanche for Rooney ...)

Is the Baily incident the one from the corner we're talking about after Dinho's shot? I didn't think that there was much in that but did notice Baily kick out a bit at Otamendi after the ball left play. It was swiftly followed by Otamendi's usual over exaggeration.
