We won't cancel Muric's loan. He is NAC's starter this season and it's better that he stay on loan. City obviously rate him higher than Grimshaw, but I don't believe there's going to be a noticeable difference at their age. Neither are good enough or ready to be our keeper and neither is an ideal cup keeper so it would be pointless to do it.
My guess is that Ederson just plays most games. Could let Grimshaw play the first rounds of the League Cup or FA Cup depending on the opponent. I suspect we can still sign a free agent but there really hasn't been much discussion about when the cut off is (or if it was the start of the season or not). It used to be that you could still sign them after the transfer window had closed but I haven't seen any sort of confirmation if that is still the case.
There's a really, really, really, really fucking gigantic difference mate, no offence to Grimshaw. We won't cancel Muric's loan. He is NAC's starter this season and it's better that he stay on loan. You can sign a free agent at any point in the season..............
The issue is that Muric will not improve if he doesn't play. It is better for City in the long term for him to stay there and play in 40-50 games than to maybe play 10 here if he is the back-up all season. This is why Gunn had to leave and he was already established -- it would be more pronounced for Muric. With the European window still open, could we buy NAC Breda a new keeper and bring Muric back?
Or, for the benefit of the watching journalists, pay NAC a £5m “good will” fee for releasing Muric from his loan and they then could buy a new keeper for £5m.
I am fairly certain that they can't be registered after a certain point even if they're signed. I believe it used to be in sort of late September-ish as I recall (a few weeks after the transfer window ended). I could be totally misremembering things, but I'm almost certain there was a deadline where a free agent couldn't actually play even if signed until the next registration window opened. You can sign a free agent at any point in the season..............
