Claudio Echeverri/On Loan at River Plate

you guys keep harping about heart problems without any proof whatsoever. Im pretty sure he had a panic attack or something of that ilk, which while scary isnt a physical issue. If he had something wrong with his heart he would be screened and out of the pitch for a long while.

Even if you dont trust river doctors dont forget he will be a city player soon and city 100% have all his medical info and stuff. Now, sometimes its kinda impossible to screen some congenital heart conditions but as a pro footballer he is always surrounded by doctors, it beats the alternative.

The only logical argument is that it might have affected his psychological state but that happened in january, after that he continued starting for river, then benched and went to the olympics in between, so i wouldnt worry too much

Echeverri went 74m, leaving with the score River 2-0 Banfield. Got an assist on the 2nd goal - clip below.
CE played very well - 8.2 at Sofascore.

Overall he hasn't been at his best this year since the Olympics. He's a vertical playmaker. Will need his athleticism and energy in the 2nd half of the season.

Both River and Echeverri haven't had the best seasons. But it looks like he's enjoying his football again based on that performance.

Running the show at 18 is impressive.

Echeverri just left the match at 70m up 1-2 on the road. He didn't touch the ball much, but he was fine and involved with both goals creation, IIRC. Sofascore sez only 39 touches, but 7.7 rating with 5 key passes. His new role is to play solo between the front line and the pivots behind. He can't be defended solo so if he's defended with numbers it creates overloads for his teammates. The strat cooked at home for him, lotsa touches ... but in this road match the River build up was left in the hands of a triple pivot behind him and they SUCK. Two nice matches in a row tho.

sounds pretty much like he has to operate the role of the 8s here against the low block. quick passes, little space, etc

River keen to keep him another year. Gallardo basically saying he's not physically ready for Europe.

Kind of agree but he can work on his physique when he arrives. He's too good for the EDS but I bet it's been a while since he had any 90 min appearances. So he can build up some fitness there too.
