I'm not a member of the BA but a similar age. We did have to watch all that shite, then we got the piss took out of us at school. City fans sing things that take the piss out of ourselves, it's what's made us different, made us blue. Ironically, it's those saying things like "don't sing we never win at home, we sang that when we were shit, we're not shit any more" are the ones becoming like rags.
What these 'older' fellas don't understand is that when we were at school we were scrapping in the playground over footy and it would be 75%Rags 5-15%City(depending on where you were) and 10-20% who didn't like footy. Everyone just chose to support the Rags, even kids who came from full City supporting families just chose United (hence the song "my old man said be a City fan"!). The shit I got for being a Blue was daily and sometimes it was just met with "you're a City fan? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Us lads who are in our 20's now stuck with our club when it would have been so easy to just follow the crowd! We should be fucking applauded for doing so, not ridiculed for singing at matches!

Bang on,

Im 25 myself, as a kid I was the only blue in my class, used to wear the shirt with pride Curle number 5, Rosler 28.

We was here when we were shit! Gets on my tits when the 'older' fans get all high and mighty because they were born earlier! And you call us kids!!!

As an Inspiral Carpets fan...... what are the lyrics to our version of ''This is how it feels'??
"Rags don't know what's going on, they're wondering why we're singing their song
They can't say, they can't see, that we're singing it for the irony
Rags don know what's going on, they're wondering why we're singing their song

Cos this is how it feels to be City
This is how it feels to be small
This is how it feels when our team wins nothing at all......."

Husband don't know what he's done
Kids don't know what's wrong with mum
She can't say, they can't see, putting it down to another bad day
Daddy don't know what he's done
Kids don't know what's wrong with mum

SO THIS IS HOW IT FEELS TO BE LONELY
THIS IS HOW IT FEELS TO BE SMALL
THIS IS HOW IT FEELS WHEN YOUR WORD MEANS NOTHING AT ALL

Black car drives through the town, some guy from the top estate
Left a note for a local girl, and yet he had it all on a plate

SO THIS IS HOW IT FEELS TO BE LONELY
THIS IS HOW IT FEELS TO BE SMALL
THIS IS HOW IT FEELS WHEN YOUR WORD MEANS NOTHING AT ALL

Husband don't know what he's done
Kids don't know what's wrong with mum

*edit*

Big ''fail'' there. Didn't read the request carefully enough.

probably the blue alliance kids at it again!!

they think that we've only been supporting city for one season, maybe we should sing, "where were you at bradford"?? (treveor morley)

oh yeah, you were not even born, 35 years!!

however they do keep the atmosphere going, stood near them at fulham and they did give it a good go, could lose of a few of the united songs though, we're becoming as bad as them singing about us all the time!!

if we were at the back mario must have flown up the stands. stop making up rubbish. we've put hours of work into setting up the blue alliance, you're made up rubbish and accusations of being a load of spotty kids that want to fight our own fans are pathetic and don't help our reputation at all. if you really have a problem with us we have a meeting today at 5pm. will happily talk then.

how long has kurt cobain been a city fan? ;)

P.s the "this is how it feels to be city" song is funny i think.

It's sad people think there's a split between older and younger fans; we all support the same team, and most of us have seen us in the shit (my first season watching City was the division 2 season for example). The 'this is how it feels' etc songs are a parody of United fans' songs about us when we were shit, not mocking City fans. Why not just put all this aside and support the club we all love?

Haven't finished reading this thread, but as a 23 year old BA/CCB member I can tell you I put up with fucking plenty of matches under Ball, Clarke etc. Unlike plenty of older members my childhood didn't have Bell, Lee and Summerbee. Some of you have suffered for plenty of years, and indeed some of you had also never seen us win anything, but to say fans like us are the product of post-1992 football is hugely insulting. Anyone who goes home and away, gets behind their team, is clearly not a prawn sandwich muncher.

I go to every home game & as many as I can for away games. I spend all my money on City what I work for. But cos I'm 17 that means I'm a shit fan? Hahahaha, okay then.

Keep it up Blue Alliance, should be more people like you lot trying to get the atmosphere rocking every single game I'm in the middle of 117 and sing along all the time, I try to get the people near me to sing along as well which works sometimes & sometimes it doesn't.

Agreed. The amount of shit I used to get on a playground. My dad is hugely proud of how much of a blue I am, because he knows that I could easily have turned to the dark side, and believe me my cousins tried, but I chose City. Imagine growing up used to relegation, managerial changes, and players like Michael Frontzeck. Being confounded by Coppell's departure. Going for a kick-about the same day Kinkladze was weeping after our relegation in 1996 and getting resoundly ridiculed by a bunch of glory hunters.

Singing the "united" chants ironically is poking fun at all their chants that we've heard. "Going down with a billion in the bank", as they sang at us, is a two fingers up to them, as if to say fuck you, we've changed, this is a new City, capable of winning things and not throwing it all away comically, something we have never had in our lives.
