Clichy Injured

Some idiots pass for fans, without Lescott we would not have come close to winning the league, Vinnie took a few months to get back to his best. I think we can also thank Luiz for Mancini not being rash, at one time many blues wanted him, we know the rest
Our entire squad contributed to us winning the league. To hear some people on here, you would think we won the league despite our squad.

-- Thu Sep 13, 2012 9:10 am --

cmon mate , how can you expect me to believe what Mancini publicly says , cmon

Two points, firstly, I've backed up my argument with quotes. You can only back yours up with speculation.

Secondly, you have often used quotes from Mancini, and even from second rate Italian agents, to back up your arguments regarding transfers. So it's hypocritical to then dismiss quotes which don't suit your argument.

Either way you have no answer for why in two and half years City have made not one serious attempt to replace Lescott. The reason I say that with such certainty is that our owners are serious people. If they really wanted an upgrade on Lescott we'd have bought someone older and more experienced than Nastasic.

I don't think Sergio will be fit enough to start so Carlos up front.

I'm on phone so can't hunt back to copy and paste my team from this morn but I reckon Silva or Nasri will get free role behind Carlos whilst we pack the midfield with Garcia, Rodwell (or Bazza) and Yaya. Maicon and Clichy as wingbacks with Zab, Vince and Jolene as the 3. Alternatively we could go flat back 4 and take out Zab and include Jimmy to play in front of Maicon so he can cover when maicon bombs on.

If he plays three at the back he'll play two up top in my opinion. Otherwise it's too negative.

What would be interesting would be playing Yaya in behind the two forward (CT/SA) with neither Nasri nor Silva playing. It's a very solid line up which gives us options from the bench, but also have bite going forward.

Can't wait for this game to be honest. Biggest so far on the European stage since the takeover and one which we should compete in and not fear.
Most of this thread and a goodly number on the entire forum is all about fear.

Every team has weaknesses, even the mighty Real Madrid and Barcelona. The quality we have throughout our side means we should not fear anyone.

I'm saying if Clichy is injured i would rather have Maicon on the left than Zabaleta or Kolarov purely for pace
It's too bad Usain Bolt is a rag fan. With him, we wouldn't need the other ten players, not even a keeper. His pace would guarantee a win in every competition for the next 12,000 years and we would never concede!

Oh, but to dream...

Strange
True. Your idea to make Macon a left back purely for pace as that's the facet of his game that's degraded the most is certainly a strange one.

-- Thu Sep 13, 2012 9:30 am --

I completely agree. The only player that I think at the moment who is close to irreplaceable within the existing squad is Yaya and that's not even a certainty.

We need to lay down a marker in Europe IMO. We've been very weak each time we've competed in recent years and that trend needs to end this season. We take the spirit of the demolition derby to Madrid and we come back with 3 points having sent a calling card to every other team in the competition.

The end of last season was a watershed moment in my opinion. You could just tell that something happened somewhere along the way after that Arsenal disaster that changed the mentality of the squad. I have no way of knowing precisely what it was, but something clicked and the self-belief was just there. Perhaps they realized after Arsenal that they're better than that. Perhaps Mancini or a coach told them to take a long, hard look at themselves. I don't know, but something changed.

This squad believes in themselves and each other. Madrid might beat us but it won't be because City is afraid of them.

No whats strange is the immature reply you came up! Maicon is a right wing back and is just as able to play on the left side as Zabaleta! And its a fact that we will need pace against Real Madrids front men! Your making it out as if i said put Scapuzzi at left back!

Yes, a snarky reply on Blue Moon is strange.

we can win at madrid. even stoke could win at madrid. every team on a particular day can win at madrid.

this dont change that real madrid are stronger than us , than stoke and than every other football team , barca included.

so its normal , for every team , the fear when they have to go at the bernabeu.

What happened after the Arsenal game was a conversation between Mancini and Khaldoon which resulted in the pressure being lifted off the players. The press caled it "mind games" and we won them. While Bacon was screaming "we are the best and will win" Khaldoon told Mancini to agree.

Bacon is no match for Khaldoon.
