Club Badge (merged)

So what you're trying to say is, if we're measuring by success the Rose badge is pretty fucked?
Football Academies were set-up in 1998, City applied for Academy status at the end of Chairman Lee's reign and so it was the Eagle

Sir Alex Williams was always part of the Community team from 1990

2 titles, 3 FAC, 1LC & 1 ECWC! It was worn at 1934 homecoming and was still being used in 1972. Actually, an illuminated version of the original, pre Rose, circular badge was still on the external wall of the CitySocial Club in the late 1980s!

I'm sure the academy was running well before 1990 Kramer. I remember as a young boy waiting for my dad to get home from work so I could read the Evening News back page (in the old days when there was one story a day) and reading about it. Jim Cassell was heavily involved. It probably had a different name but if we're talking about success of badge era it can be argued city's youth setting up was the club's most successful/productive/time ever. Success isn't just trophies.

I will be quite sad when the current badge goes. Its a symbol of of an 18 year roller coaster ride, I didn't like it when it first appeared on the Kappa shirt in 1997 and I hated the laser blue colour.

Now I've come to appreciate it as its been on the shirt when the club has been at its lowest point in 1999 and on the shirt when we won the league in a way we could only ever dream of in 2012.

RIP current City crest even though you looked a bit third reich with the eagle and made us look a bit silly with people asking what those 3 stars were for.

What I'm more worried about is there has been so many variations of the badge made up by fans..will the club be scared to do something similar and have one of the fan designers sue for copyright/ripping off the design or something? I know we would like to think it wouldn't happen

if they are 'proper' fans, it wouldn't be an issue ... all they have to do is ask.

Besides, if they can't do any better than me, then we are in trouble!!

They are still modern interpretations though...doesn't give the club much room with regards to updated versions of the old badge...at least without stepping on someone's toes...Gav for example has done loads of permutations

from doing a bit on copyright last year for uni, if i can remember i think you have to make something like 9 changes for it to not be like the original, not sure if that applies to badge designs though. fc united badge is basically our old badge and i dont think a fan would sue city if they use their design tbh.

With respect, you might wish to give a career in Intellectual Property a miss. The copying must be a of substantial part of the original and is assessed qualitatively, however small in proportion that may be. In any event, FC ****** are using part of the original Manchester CofA. For your reference as below.

S. 16 (3) (a) of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 provides that references in Part I of the Act to the doing of an act restricted by the copyright in a work are to the doing of it in relation to the work as a whole or any substantial part of it.

As much as I hate it always have , you have a good point from the edge of doom to total ecstasy.

Have you seen this horror mate?! It's not anywhere near the same class as yours.

Rafeal Esquer who designed the NYCFC had nothing to do with this design by the way, so I can only assume it was done by the in house graphics team who also came up with the "Cityzens" debacle.
