Personally, I'm in the "It's a bit shit, there's about 5 things wrong with it, Gav could've done far better but its better than the eagle monstrosity" camp.

Why should it be one or the other ? Manchester was a part of Lancashire when City came into existence and for our first 80 years a 70's boundary change doesn't change that. So for me having both the symbolism of Manchester and Lancashire is perfect

i agree mate, the rose and our lancashire past is so important to manchester. if thats not relevant then neither is the ship. if you walk around manchester and look especially around the older buildings you can find the rose on a lot of different things.

Those who talk about their eye for design are probably too busy looking at their own intestines as their heads are probably not where they could be looking at any badge not halfway through their digestive system.
 
The thing I've seen on the ipo site says 'examination' next to it not 'registered' & there's another in all dark blue like a Chelsea badge. The eagle one & the old ones say 'registered'. There are others too which have never been used. There is another one from Sept 2015 which says 'application published' which is different .

Are we 100% sure this is the final one ?

Either way, i hate the fucking eagle & the 3 stupid stars anyhow so..

i do design and illustration for my degree course and i think it looks good. everyone from designers to posters on here will have different views. Just because some random designer says it doesn't look good doesn't mean its not. imo the same guy that did the new york badge did it it would look a lot more corporate and it wouldn't have the things we wanted.

Looks like a basic and poor rework of the old one.

Really don't like the way the text is in Navy blue, doesn't stand out the way the black does. Don't like how much Navy there is in there full stop. Doesn't look right.

Really poor not to have 'football club' or at least 'FC' in there as well, really ragish.

It's bizarre to not have "Football Club" because both the other CFG teams have it.
 
Really don't get why we didn't go for the classic shield shape either, this new one is about as generic as it gets, looks like an aerial view of a toilet seat.

In the style your talking about because im not getting this cartoon loony tunes thing. Nyc looks ok because its simplistic. There are many more letters in Manchester City. Some fans on here don't like Man City or MCFC (previous slatings) so what's the alternatives?
 
well the IPO office has us registering the rose badge in september as our property so maybe we should just use that. also the new designs are not fully registered yet only established
 
I dont understand why people are saying its amateurish of the club to have leaked it? Seems like they've registered it at the very last possible chance before the boxing day unveiling. It's leaked via the intellectual property office and I dont see how the club could've prevented that. It's nigh on impossible to keep anything a secret these days thanks to the internet and I'm surprised it's taken this long for it to get out to be honest.

Someone earlier in the thread said someone at city should lose their job over it! Yeah let's sack a regular employee two days before Xmas over something they didn't even leak.

Not a radom Eagle at all, was used as the civic badge of the City and used by the club on documents and of course by the club on the current badge. The Eagle has seen some of the most important events in this club's history yet is being discarded. The red rose badge only saw one trophy win and wasn't worn on the final shirts, in fact it was the least successful of the three badges, it also symbolises the disaster that was Peter Swales. The red rose is not relevant to the City of Manchester and hasn't been since 1974. Greater Manchester is made up of parts of Lancashire, Cheshire and Yorkshire since the biggest portion of the club's support comes from Greater Manchester then surely have the symbol of one county is wrong? This new offering must have been designed by a novice as there are so many aspects that are wrong, already pointed out by many on here, that it amounts to a fudge.
 
The shield shouldn't be proud of the surrounds
The rose looks ridiculous there
Why has the FC gone
The 1984 is a sop to those who think we have no history

I didn't think they'd be able to make the badge more shit, but they've managed it
