Club Badge (merged)

If we didn't have rights to the 1972 badge, why were we allowed to produce and sell retro shirts with that badge on before we registered it in September?

Self-explanatory. Should be a relief for all the 'Eagle' fans out there.
The mono badge registered in 1972 and version thereof must be of its time. The coloured version was effectively protected thereafter as anyone else attempting to use it would fall foul of the law of passing off.

The thing I've seen on the ipo site says 'examination' next to it not 'registered' & there's another in all dark blue like a Chelsea badge. The eagle one & the old ones say 'registered'. There are others too which have never been used. There is another one from Sept 2015 which says 'application published' which is different .

Are we 100% sure this is the final one ?

Either way, i hate the fucking eagle & the 3 stupid stars anyhow so..
Trademarking is a process which takes a while, once you've entered the process you don't get to change your submission or get a refund

For me the problems are the flat text and the shading. I'm not too keen on the shield popping out either, I would've preferred it if it was more like this.

For all on here saying don't like it, crap, rubbish, cartoony, embarrassing & stronger versions of disagreement; i would like to see an alternative with the elements being used. Or its a mute argument is it not?
Not, that's like saying someone can only critise if they can do better, so navas can cross the ball because no one that criticises him can cross better and a fan can't have a pop at yaya because they can't even decide to "turn it on", like he does,
If you get me?

Easily the one on the right. I hope the club can just make the simple tweaks of adding 'football club' and adjusting the shield to fit inside. I really do feel those changes reflect the main issues people have with the new design, because other than that it's fine.

I don't like football club on it. Too busy.

I don't mind the new badge at all, certainly looks more "City" than the eagle and decorative continental stars, but got to admit I prefer the mock ups on here that have "Football Club."

even without though I think even those who aren't keen now will warm to it, especially over time as they see it on our shirts, people can then go back to moaning about the colour of our shorts!!

I actually like our current badge, but this new one is really good too. Looks pretty cool in my opinion.

This would be better - and make the shield triple topped.. but thay're not going to change that now :(

Best we can hope for is a change of the writing to include FC.

Apologies for my poor photoshop skills btw! (only did it quickly)

Fair enough but as I said to SWP in an earlier post today (which he duly ignored as it didn't serve his narrative) I've had the opinion of three professional, mid-to-high level designers and artists and they all said it was poor design (none of them have any interest in City or sport in general, so they do not bring any personal bias or nostalgia). They mostly focused on the execution, rather than the elements, which I think is the reason many dislike it and refer to it as "cartoonish". It won't age well, I am convinced of that, as it already looks dated from the gate. Put beside other badges in world football it looks even worse.

I'll live with it but it is a missed opportunity in my book.

So what is this execution please? Surely these 3 mid to high level designers are only voicing their personal opinion. As we all are on here.

More I see it, more I like it. Would have preferred football club, and the badge within the inner circle. But small issues really.

General opinion from non-City is positive. Which doesnt happen often.

As I understand it the 1972 badge wasn't registered as a trade mark but was simply copyrighted to MCFC. Copyright expired after 25 years in 1997 so the current badge was then produced but was registered as a trade mark allowing it to be renewed every 10 years.

It's

The rose has only been on one of our previous badges from 1972 to 1997 and it looked hideous then, in my humble opinion. Mind you I hate anything red, you obviously do not, as is your right.

1972-97 is "years" i think you'll find

(did you notice its the twat with cuntish views defending you bish'shair?)

But i was talking about the badge. Trying to get a design person to improve (to the unhappy) the leaked image.
