Who cares? It sold out, but it wasn’t full and that the attendance won’t have been what it says it was. Back of CBL3 and SSL3 had chunks of empty seats, the corporate areas were sparse in some areas, the 2-3 seats dotted about in most other blocks around ESL1 and FSL1, plus the away end only being ⅔ full.
I reckon it was easily below 50,000 actually in the ground.
It has been for months. It was obvious during the Euros with Sterling’s interviews there. I was pounced upon by domalino and others suggesting I was mishearing things.Something definitely seems to be going on with Sterling imo given Pep’s reaction when asked about him there
That was a brilliant watch. I love him when he’s confrontational with nobody journos. Marvellous the way he just got up and walked off at the end without even looking at them.I'd recommend watching this post match press conference from Pep.

He's in an incredibly bullish mood.
Anyone got a thread, my stick went down for the last 20 mins

100% agree. Both mahres and sterling should be ahead of grealish, who is had to impressFor this game, happiest for Sterling for his goal. Can see from the celebration that it meant a lot for the others for Sterling to score that because Sterling himself wasn’t that elated for the goal.
Confidence player who’s lacking some self belief or demotivated by something that happened off the field. But after he scored there were clear glimpses of the Sterling that scored 20 in a season.
I’ll play him before Grealish at this point. Grealish needs time to figure out his role in this team and he can try that out in less volatile games. I’ll start Sterling for the derby.
Aahhh in that case…who knows?I knew exactly what it was. It was more why now
don’t tell me he has only just worked it out this week because that’s clearly bollocks
so. Why now?
Jesus - you’re as bad as that MEN journalist who had his red marker pen out that time because he’d spotted a couple of empties ffs!View attachment 29194

It was like this in many areas of the ground. Small chunks of seats here and there not taken up.
Excellent turnout at the Etihad tonight. Selling over 50k tickets when not playing glamorous opposition is a good effort IMHO. Especially coming through the Covid crisis.
I’ve not read the last few pages but I’m guessing there’s Blues saying the real fans weren’t at the game tonight and the ground was full of tourists. That’s bollox but who cares.
I wonder if people are getting a bit more used to the mobile ticketing and that contributed to a good attendance. FWIW, I sorted tickets for 6 mates like I used to do before the lockdowns . It was a bit of hassle getting a couple of mates to link to others on Friends and Family and getting them to download Google pay. That said, having sorted that for last night’s game it should be straightforward for future matches.the ground wasn’t full of tourists. It was like the Leipzig game.
When our tempo is too slow, we lose the advantage of being a great passing side. When we up it a bit, all is sweet. Proved for the umpteenth time in this game. Tempo, tempo, tempo.
