not sure you can tell based off the seat planner as the above poster said. The club make lots of tickets unavailable and grey them out. When you get to the ground they are often empty
Not the case for this game IMO. Unlike Leipzig, all tiers have been on sale all along. A couple of hundred did appear on the planner yesterday in CB3 (Block 325 or 326 I think) but they were clearly either from UEFA's allocation or the chunk of premium seats that UEFA say clubs should set aside for away fans. Whoever they were for originally (and it won't be schools as these are some of the best seats in the ground), they're not now required and have all since sold to City fans

You're as bad as me mate. As I have to keep logging on to buy various match tickets for my lads I've been checking this one regularly.

Also, with it being a cup game, there won't be as many "no shows" as in a league game so I anticipate a genuinely full stadium tonight.

177 tickets left. Joe's almost sold out. Tickets in the NW corner, also on sale.

He doesn’t view derbies in the same way we do. Just like Ferguson never viewed City or Liverpool games the same way the fans did while he was United manager. Roy Keane has said before that Ferguson’s (and his own) big game was Arsenal and Wenger, not City or Liverpool. His aim was to “knock Liverpool off their perch” and he used Liverpool’s history of success to push United further in the media spotlight, but the big game for United in the 90s and 00s was Arsenal as Liverpool only challenged Ferguson for the title once.

Pep’s big game is Liverpool and Klopp, not United. Liverpool have been our main rivals in Pep’s reign as manager.
To deal with your final point first Pep’s main managerial rival is Klopp and this probably stems from their German days but our main rivals during his time here aren’t necessarily the dippers - that’s a bit of a media myth. Chelsea have won the league and the CL, the rags have been league runners up twice.

I was wrong to imply that he needs to view derbies the same way we do but his record in them isn’t great when the relative merits of the two teams are considered so maybe he should be doing something differently. It can’t just be a case of styles make fights, he’s a tactical genius - even if their way of playing is all wrong for us he’s bright enough to adapt.

Fucks me off arguing this point year after year.

Pep is here to win trophies which he does superbly well. when you are chasing multiple trophies you have to rotate the squad, not only to keep the best players fresh, fit and uninjured but to keep your expensive squad members motivated and included.

there have been several derbies over the last few years which have actually not meant much more than bragging rights because either the league has alreadt been virtually won or the first leg has put the game out of reach of United. These games have usually been sandwiched between do-or-die cup or CL games.

These are (mostly) the games he has lost, usually through bad luck/finishing.

What Pep is is sharp and sensible enough to know that winning the derby does not define City's season any more. Some of our fans need to learn this. I bet you we fucking tonk United on Saturday because they have been incredibly lucky against us in recent years. But if we don't it will be because, like Palace on the weekend, an inferior team caught us on a bad day and rode their luck, not because he "doesn't understand the derby " or other such fan nonsense.

I'd change it up a little and save some for United

Steffen (little nod to Ederson to buck up)
Walker Dias Laporte Zinchenko
Bernardo Rodri Gundogan
Mahrez Jesus Sterling

Whether he means them or not, Pep’s comments about the rag game and his attitude to derbies are two reasons why he’ll never win everybody’s hearts.

(Not that he’ll give a flying fcuk in the overall scheme of things.)

Didn’t really see anything wrong about his comments tbh, I look at the derby as any other top 6 game, it’s not our cup final any more but it’s theirs
