Club World Cup 2025 - Who’s going?

I'm with you about getting rid of international football such as the nations league and friendlies, but at the end of the day, our players are going to be knackered after not getting another summer off.

Arsenal and Liverpool won't be there and that will be them rested with a big advantage for the following season. You don't seem concerned about the workload for our players? I will reiterate they aren't machine's and desperately need a decent break.
I am concerned about the players but believe Pep will put a priority on the World Cup. A lot depends on the injury situation. If we win it then Arsenal and Liverpool fans will be gutted. It is an opportunity to become the first English club to win the World Cup and that will be history-making. Your opinion is fair enough but I just believe this will be fantastic. Imagine City v Boca Juniors or Real Madrid in the final. Better than pre-season friendlies anyway.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree. Like I said in an ideal world it could be a great tournament but with the overcrowded fixtures schedule, for me it's a step too far.

Yeah I saw that. May not change much or it may change everything. Time will tell. FWIW I have never flown either them or Frontier.
Flown with both and never had an issue though I never need to check in bags and have traveled on my todd so never needed to pay extra to book a seat.

I even once stood my seat down at the gate when asked for a volunteer to do so. Had an extra day in LA, very posh hotel for the night, $24 breakfast voucher and a $500 voucher with Spirit.
Was booked in a regular room at the hotel and the receptionist said “oh a voucher from an airline? We’ll tell them the regular rooms were booked so I’ve put you in an en suite room.”
Bingo!

No wonder Spirit have gone bust, a $24 breakfast voucher??

That's my take too. Over time the prestige of trophies change. The FA Cup to me is incredibly prestigious but does it get the same respect now as it did? I don't think so.

Europa League and Conference League feel elevated above what they should be too.

Could be that in 20-30 years the Club World Cup is seen in a much higher regard than now.

We have broken records domestically. Other than winning the most league titles, which we remain a distance off. Dominating on the European and world stage shouldn't be sniffed at regardless of what the competition is.

Huge marketing potential which only helps us stay at the top.
I agree with all that.
Years ago the FA cup was THE cup to win. Not the league.

The europa/conference have had a resurgence in so much that again, years ago, the uefa and CWC were seen as very prestigious trophies with top teams who finished 2nd in their league, downgraded to europa and taking a very distant second to the champs league but as you say they are on the up again.
Ask west ham!

As regards to the world club cup, i remember it just being a quirky game played between (usually) liverpool and a brazilian team on a dusty pitch in japan.
I think the new format will elevate it and 100% it will be a trophy the club will definitely want to win.
