Anything that reduces the tide of nuisance calls is to be welcomed I suppose but the chances are the proposed new laws won't do much.

Who are these people getting "Stressed" or "Anxious"? I mean if it's none stop then fair enough and report it, but this is some what demonising what is a common practice. I had a cold call from Virgin, they were able to offer cheaper and faster broadband so I got a good deal out of it, winner. If you receive a call you don't want then just put the phone down, what's so hard about that?

Many businesses generate income using this method, so how else are you suppose to approach the general public if people don't know your there.

For those who have been harrassed or mis sold, quite rightly justice should be brought. Surprised people have that much time on their hands to moan about it.

cold callers are utter scumbags. Foxy you have clearly not suffered the barrage of cold calls that many people get all the time or you are in the business yourself. It should be a criminal offence to cold call a private householder on any business matter. These trespassing morons are a cancer. If I want to know about a business I'll approach them, until they can they just fu ck off. We don't have the time to be continually telling these cu nts we don't want their shite.

This proposed legislation will be total ineffective however as the twats are based abroad largely to get round UK law.

Will this also apply to the vermin chuggers in town?

Not often do I tell complete strangers to fuck off, though the beardy student wanker last week telling me to "ooooh, no problem, have a nice day, darling" at my usual firm, sturdy "no thanks" was an exception...

I love 'em. When I get one, the question/answer session goes like this....
''Hello, is that Mr AC/the Householder?''
''It could be, what's your name?''
''Alex/Jenny/Terence etc; then don't allow them one more question, say ''What's your phone number?''
Confusion and hesitancy will then ensue, follow it with...
''You sound really cute, do you use make up?''
Keep asking questions the minute they start to ask one, they'll very quickly fuck off. When they do, phone them back and ask for the same caller.
Repeat the inane questions.
Hours of fun can be had. I'm sorry this legislation has been introduced.

Mind you, if it's the old Bill on the line this hilarity may have repercussions.

I am not a cold caller at all and have never done it on an industrial capacity. There are vermin out there carrying out harrassment calls, I've worked for a company (not as a cold caller) where other parts of the company did this relentlessly and I complained so many times to management about this and the effect on the reputation. This industrious side needs to be quite rightly clamped down on.

However, I'm not one for demonising a trade and removing employment, probably most of the people calling for this measure are sat in cushty public sector roles and have no idea of challenges face in the private sector. But other parts of 'cold' calling, when utilised appropriately are so useful to companies. How do you think Start ups get off the ground?

At the end of the day, it's some kid on the other end of the phone trying to earn a living. As I said, it's not hard to put your phone down. Shall we start bashing other professions? I quite hate those twats with dreadlocks stopping you in the street to pay £5 a month to Shelter let's go ruin their fucking jobs.

They're slowly being forced out with legislation changes. I'd encourage anyone to donate to a charity by Direct Debit or Standing Order as they can plan ahead with income they expect to receive (they also cost nothing to set up); but expecting people to support a good cause for years after a 2 minute chat with a stranger is ridiculous. I was in the sector some years ago and they're becoming less and less successful at bringing in money.

Every Charity I've cancelled has since rang me to encourage a new donation.

Had two today. Both times they've hung up on me within a minute. I must be losing my touch.

Should be outlawed, many vulnerable people spend money on things they neither need or want because of pressure from these companies.

As long as they let the fuckers call around to the door, I love winding the dogs up and scaring the shit out of them.
