Cole Palmer

I actually thought Mahrez, when he moved inside & was getting the ball deeper, looked absolutely brilliant & was much more a team player. He is so talented.

Prior to that, he was actually just in the way & farting about in a predictable manner.

But he showed another side to his play later imo, which would be something if we could harness it.
Tbf,he showed these attributes on his debut pre season usa .a few seasons back..looked classy, composed and very comfortable in midfield.as tho he,d played there all his career.

I know we take a lot of criticism for our development of young players but you can tell players like Foden and Cole Palmer have been here for years and years. The cutback attempt for Sterling is probably natural at this point and what we teach the kids to do.
Its definitely what Pep tells his players to do....if you have a chance to score yourself but a team mate is in an even better posistion...Pass.so team mate can roll the ball into an empty net.We saw this time after time with Nolitto being the main beneficiary in the 6 yard box,in Peps early days.

When they're ignored as often as they are, I wonder if there is a finer detail about their positioning that maybe we're not picking up on that the players on the pitch might be wary of.

It seems to be too prevalent to be just a respect/trust thing, although I'm sure it plays a factor.
I think your right.Foden used to be always screaming for the ball early days ,in some situations where maybe the older players didnt quite trust the postion he was in.Foden himself was prob confident of being able to handle the situation, but elder perhaps players wary of Peps keep posession at all times mantra.

There’s something about him that reminds me of Rooney, joe Cole I watched that interview he did the other night that’s what they were like that age, looking like some kid off an estate just walked on the pitch.

Most of youngsters look like they’ve come off a council estate because most of them have. They all seem to be from Stockport or wythenshawe estates haha something in the water

Highlights from the EDS game.

Palmer seems very comfortable with his right foot from that vid. But he seems to be describEd as a left footer, so seemingly very 2 footed, good size to him, silky passing, decent pace and engine and a good shot too. Only thing I haven’t seen much of is his defensive work. Could he play centre mid? Seems with his skill set he could play very well in multiple position.

Be good if he is another who gets a chance of more first team football, as he looked very comfortable last time out.

Foden being used as more of a winger for the moment is good news for Palmer and Doyle.

Feels incredibly unfortunate that we've got a crop of world class talent - Foden, Doyle, Palmer, Fiorini, Nmecha, McAtee - and they're all fucking attacking midfielders.

On the contrary - it’s the Guardiola way!

A team of small, tricky attacking midfielders in every position.
