How generous of a club to "consult" the manager before singing players

You say that as if it's a bad thing to have a structure in place above the manager that handles transfers and recruitment rather than relying on the manager to select targets. Judging from your response, I guess this is not the case at City?
 
The game time argument never really stood up for me at this stage. Hoped he'd see an opportunity when Mahrez left. Could have given it much more of a go which City seemed open to and chosing Chelsea seems a bit of a giveaway on that reasoning. Don't blame him though.
 
Would rather have kept him and not signed Doku, a player with very average stats considering he was playing in a terrible French league. Palmer has already shown this season he's capable of scoring in big games and being able to score important goals. His talent and potential is clear for all to see.
