Cole Palmer

Would rather have kept him and not signed Doku, a player with very average stats considering he was playing in a terrible French league. Palmer has already shown this season he's capable of scoring in big games and being able to score important goals. His talent and potential is clear for all to see.
In terms of goals and assists, they aren't that bad as he played about half the minutes that Mahrez played last season.

They are however in a bit of a streak, as he's got something like 6 goals + and 2 assists in his last 9 starts. Apparently based on coming back from injury determined to focus on scoring more, but it could also just be a lucky streak.

Surprised he wants to go Chelsea, I can understand him leaving but to go to a side where he could get marginally more time on the pitch that he does here seems odd.

They don't have European games so it's not like their first choice players will be in need of much rest.

I'm not talking about Cole, I'm talking about the bigger picture.

Some of you are obviously cool with supporting a business as long as you keep on winning and I understand that.

Speaking only for myself, I find that a bit cold and sterile. I don't care about the money we make and I don't care what our net spend is. To be honest, I'm not sure why anyone would care who isn't paid to do so.

I used to take pride in our academy but I haven't been to an EDS game in years because it doesn't really mean much to me anymore. It's gone from "that number 8 looks good, he might go on to do big things with us" to "that number 8 looks good, he might help us pay for some ten a penny Premier League player."

I have some sympathy. I felt this way a few years back when we first got money. Shiniwatra and Sven - remember them? I felt sadly disengaged for a while at joining the greedy bastards like utd and co.

Football’s a pretty dirty business these days and that’s not going to change any time soon. So the choices are to turn your back or get pragmatic, go along with it and beat the others at their own game. The upside is the superb quality of players and the number of trophies we’ve seen over the last dozen or so years. I quickly learned to become a City fan again, albeit playing to the new rules. The pleasure was only heightened by knocking the rags and dippers off their perches.

Everything is relative. I feel we have the most benign ownership and the best executive and management team in football. Our club is as socially responsible as any. We don’t employ twats like Mourinho and we don’t have big “I am” players.

The academy is part of that model, I’m afraid. It’s a shame we don’t give kids more opportunity but I understand the pressures and risks. We’re rich enough to pay others to develop them but smart enough to make good money on rough diamonds.

Will get paid considerably more there than elsewhere. Therefore not that surprising really.
