He wanted more minutes than what we could offer and he's getting them. Considering he had yet to show his potential, we did really well.

It's a bit of a shame, but it's football.

Pep rightly has taken responsibility for his departure but who knows weather he would have been a 20 plus a season scorer in our side even if the likes of Mahrez and Gundy had left us the season before.

Of course we would rather have him still given his obvious talent at such a young age but as you allude to its always a balancing act and there will always be players that we let go that will make the grade at other clubs.

Its the total package you have to look at , I would much rather have had and still have than what Chelsea have including Palmer but good luck to the lad , he has the makings of a stellar career for club and country and England sure need some more talent as they have under performed for many decades now.

There’s a lot of fucking hindsight being applied here regarding Cole Palmer. I think there was general surprise that Chelsea were paying as much as £45m for him at the time; I really wanted him to do well at City but it didn’t look likely tbh. Maybe wasn’t suited to being a Pep player and perhaps the fact you can do what you want at chelsea under Pochettino really suits him. But those who are saying we shouldn’t have sold him now can point to their posts saying the same in August

If at the start of the season you were asked to write a list of 25 players that could be at the top of the goal scoring chart with 6 games to go and be level with Haaland, not a single person of this forum would have said Palmer.

Of course it does help that Chelsea have been given double the amount of penalties we have because we don't get given them when the likes of Haaland get clearly fouled in the box
